Pebble time smartwatch £79.99 @ Zavvi

Found 11th May 2016
I've been unable to decide between a fitness tracker or a smartwatch - noticed this now has pebble health which has been quite well reviewed - from what I've read anyway.

Waterproof - always on screen - good selection of apps - I'm taking the plunge.

This was the lowest price I could find - There is a small cashback from Topcashback too.

The Pebble is better, and great customer service.
brilliant price, brilliant watch.
Usually a few discount codes flying about too.
I had the B&W Pebble Steel for Christmas, had to return it and get a replacement as the screen was corrupting. A month ago the replacement started getting the same problem. Could be down to the newest update, but I wondered if anyone had the same problems with the colour version?
Got mine from Zavvi a few weeks ago at the same price using a code. It took about 10 days to come but love it!
Just picked up a steel strap for £7 from Amazon too...

Ive had a pebble steel since Xmas, love it, no glitches, get all my notifications, alerted when my phone is out of range (stops me losing it), controls my music, works with runkeeper when I'm running and even better, gives me heart rate and run details when using aerotracker/aerohrm, all from one of the best looking smart watches IMO!
That is tempting!
I already have a pebble though!

Out of interest, did you ever use an iPad charger with it? I had the corruption problem and thought it may be down to using a charger which was too powerful?
I love the watch (the pebble steel that is and not the one in this post) but I had the corruption problem too. Had to send some photos off to pebble. They are sending me a new one in the post.

Looks like a great deal, other than the colour screen what are the main advantages of this one vs the original pebble watch? Thanks
It should be noted, the screen corruption issue is exclusive to the b&w original pebbles. The Time series with the colour screens don't suffer from this. I've had this watch for a week or so now and it's great, I love it. The sleep tracking, phone notifications and smart alarm are mildly life changing

I have the Time Steel and no screen issues here. However I wouldn't recommend it unless you can find it for less than £100.

It scratches too easily and looks tatty after only a few days. So it scores nothing for looks. In terms of functionality it's way down the list compared to Android Wear devices and in terms of reliability it's hit and miss with regards to notifications.
I have had an original pebble for a year and a half now and I don't think I could live without it now. Its so useful especially after the latest updates that allow more than 8 apps. This is a brilliant price for the colour version too, take some heat my friend

that's not my experience, having owned a huge number of smartwatches: for me 'functionality' is about a device's ability to function well, and for reliable notifications I've found the Pebble to be solid. I can use it when my fingers are wet, the interface is easy to navigate on the move and...well what else do I need? It also has an always-on display that isn't some janky minimalistic version of the normal watchface and is clearly visible no matter how dark it is or how much sunlight is shining on it, and I only need to charge just once a week - I'm on holiday in Cornwall and haven't even packed the charger for my Pebble!

For me these things are *real* functionality boons that Android Wear and Watch OS don't have.
I find Android Wear and Apple Watch frustrating to use on the move and I always find myself going back to my Pebble Steel - and I've certainly tried my fair share of smartwatches - from both generations of Moto 360, the Sony Smartwatch 3, and LG G Watch to the Apple Watch (multiple times). I never end up using apps on any watches, never talk to my watch or take calls on it and don't particularly care about having a big, high res screen. I didn't even use Apple Pay on the Apple Watch in the end, as I found the phone itself did a full breakdown of payments and was easier to quickly tap against the terminal. Swipe-based interfaces are just inconvenient on a watch if you ask me - give me buttons every time!

That's my experience anyway.
Great price for this! Heat added.
Just got a software update today apparently making pebble health even more user-friendly.
Would people upgrade from original pebble to this or should I wait? Or better alternative?

Apologies I didn't get a notification to say someone had replied to me... Got this. Flubited it.

Ritche 22mm Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch Band Strap Straight End Solid Links Color Black
Excellent watch for notifications. The watch itself is not much to look at and the bezel scuffs too easily but functionality and battery life are great. I haven't used my android wear watch since purchasing the Pebble Time.

Must have had a dodgy model! I've had the Time Steel for about a month now with no missed notifications, excellent battery life, bashed it against several door frames and desks, dropped it twice and have a less than 1mm scratch on the top left (which I had to look really hard for!). I've also worn it non-stop apart from charging and that includes a daily and sometimes twice daily shower.

The watch strap did come away last week (the part that folds around the pin and reattaches to itself) but that was cured with a drop of SuperGlue and a new metal watchstrap is on its way.
Same issue - tempted to upgrade for the fitness/health app. Any opinions?

Looks good. Might consider that. I'm really enjoying the pebble for its no nonsense smartwatch approach. The only real letdown has been the strap, if it came it a quick release type strap that would have been a great touch. That said, it's easy enough to change.

It's a good price to upgrade at, but I'm hoping the next one is on its way soon. This pebble time was released on Kickstarter a year ago I think. If you're not looking to spend more than this price than you could go for this but what new features would you get? Colour screen and a mic?

The new update has really improved the health features. User interface is much improved as are the cards in the phone app. Enough to upgrade (from previous pebble)? I still feel that it's not really 100% accurate. The step count is much higher than I believe I have stepped. Sleep feels more accurate and now has smart wake alarm I think. Need to try that. Personally I would go for the Apple Watch for health tracking that seems really accurate or stick with what you have for now. But you may enjoy having a colour screen too etc.

I've had my original Pebble for 2.5 years and decided to upgrade. It was well worth it. You get colour screen, health app (automatic step counter, sleep measurement) and there is no app or watch face limit like in the original one. I'm pleased with this one. I tried a while to use Microsoft band 1 but couldn't handle the slow recharge every single day. I was looking for an alternative but is there really any other with so good app support and 5-7 day battery with fitness band features?

I think it's more likely you have the dodgy one but the amount of comments saying the same things I've seen :D. Mine was a Kickstarter one, was yours bought retail more recently?

But mine works, how can it be dodgy? :-) Bought from Amazon about 4 weeks ago? You will often find if something is working, no-one complains about it whereas for the few not working (and this happens for practically all products), the outcry is disproportionate. :-)

Dodgy because if it's a true Pebble from my experience you should have at least one complaint. I understand your point about the vocal minority and raise you whatever new toy/fanboy blinkers syndrome is called. Missed notifications is clearly a software issue and presumably with the updates I've been getting both yours and mine are equal. I've had mine long enough that I've used it on at least 2 different phones and not been pleased with the performance of the Pebble with either. In fact I'm now back on my last phone while my new one is in for repairs and even with updated software it still misses whatsapp and hangouts notifications regularly enough to be an irritation. This is in direct comparison 2 different Mi Bands (original and 1S) which have been through various software updates themselves over the months. Mi Band on the right wrist will vibrate, Pebble Time Steel on the left does not vibrate. I then check my phone to find messages. The Mi bands for £8 and £13 seem to be 100% reliable and the Time Steel that cost £207 is flaky.
