Thanks but I'm a medium
I bought my 2017 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 from Pedalon last Christmas and posted the deal on here, great bike with Ultegra hydraulic disc brake groupset and Giant's excellent SLR1 carbon wheels which are £800 a set. Just saw this on their site if you're a M/L in size £1699. (BTW I'm 6 foot and got the M/L) https://www.pedalon.co.uk/acatalog/giant-defy-advanced-pro-1-1.html#aGNxx6104123 Specification Chainset Shimano Ultegra 34/50 Cassette Shimano Ultegra 11x32
You can always change the lower ring too. Find the BCD/check the front mech spec and chain length. Unless you are a strong hill climber, you’ll want compact 50/34 with a 12-28 cassette. I used to train with 52/36 and 11-25. Switched to higher cadence to keep up my club run lol. See what cassette the rear mech will handle - will be less flaffing. I know some riders with 32/34 cassettes or CX 42 cassette and a single 44T chainring.
"Noticeably tougher" and "night and day". Hmm thats what I thought, could always change the cassette I suppose. Making it tougher on some of the hills around here, Sunny North Wales, is not an option for me :S Will probably wait until Canyon have a sale in a few months or another giant defy next year, want discs really anyway. Cheers. Will post if I ever find the calculator- can calculate % difference in "difficulty" for gear set ups.
Ran 11-25 and swapped to a 11-28 = night and day up hill climbs. 52-36.
