Can these be used on plastic pipe ?

No, they are solder joints. For plastic like speedfit and hep2o you need push fit or compression fittings (and inserts for the plastic pipes).

Question to those in the trade.

YP has a long history and had a well earned reputation for quality parts.

I have heard on a number of plimbing forums, that the quality has gone down hill.

What are your thoughts on this?

Whilst J was training a couple of years ago I was told these are a good brand. To be fair I go with what I can get hold of so use different brands and had no issues. The solder ring ones are easier to use and I always add a little solder myself anyway to be doubly sure.
