This was posted a few weeks ago and it's reduced in price again to a quid, works out at £3.33 a kilo, it's 90% Pork and no MSM, really nice fried with egg and chips.

Good for a Keto diet

I've been stocking up recently so will be buying some more.

It's nicer than Spam imo and better than the reformed slices.

Nice price. Should be good for fritters.
Marginally better meat ratio than Spam (89%) which goes out for around £8.80 per kg, and is a mix of pork and ham, and makes no claims about the origin of its content

As a guide, Tescos want £2.30 for this can (edited)

When this offer was on a few weeks ago my local Asda left the price on the shelf at £2.30 but luckily it still scanned at £1, I guess they didn't want too many taking advantage of a great offer. It's sad to see Asda's standards decline since the takeover, still some good offers but harder to find.

they were doing well with the yellow label 'essential' range foods. At some point i was shopping there exclusively because of value for money and quality. but these slowly started to get downgraded (less quality ingredients), removed from the shelves and prices crept up higher than aldi/lidl so i gave up.

Like all these canned meats it's the preservative, sodium nitrite in this case, that's the killer. Especially if you're eating lots a you might be on a keto diet. Nitrites are a recognised carcinogen. Ask yourself ... do you feel lucky?

I guess use of these is a must if you're after a canned meat with Best Before date being a year or two from date it was manufactured.
There's just no way around using a preservative of the kind, it seems (edited)
