Just like many other Pentax, excellent as long as you don't shoot moving objects or videos High end Pentax lenses are not cheap either, and lack of mid level lens choices.

But heck, it's a wonderful camera for £399.
its shocking that in this supposedly inclusive society that pentax arent considering those too stupid to add a lens to the camera themselves!
this sort of discrimination is unacceptable these days
wont somebody think of the idiots!!?

One of the big bonuses of using a Pentax camera is that they can use pretty much any PK-fitting lens, even decades old lenses, and you can get some really nice lenses quite cheaply on eBay and such places.
Amazon have the KP too for £699.

I have K-S2 which is great, but I would love to get any of those two!
I got mine for £199 in the November deal.

I have bought quite a few old prime lenses for it and they are great. My favourites are the Super Takomar 135mm 3.5 and the Super Takomar 200 mm 4.0

I believe the Tamron 16-50mm is supposed to be pretty good.

I nearly cried when I found out!!!
Also, a very strong +1 on the point about the old K-mount legacy lenses. I'm still shooting on an old Pentax film SLR and Ebay is full of amazing bargains.

Excellent camera this and weatherproofed
I was one of the lucky ones back in November and also got the student discount. The camera is a revelation - I used Canon DSLRs for several years but the first 35mm SLR I ever used was a Pentax Spotmatic F back in the day. I've been buying up vintage glass from eBay (favourite is a 50mm f1.7 prime) but also invested in the current 35mm and 55-300mm zoom which are both astounding. Love the K70 and would highly recommend it

Big fan of Pentax here.
Still using my K100D Super from 2008, bought a nifty fifty lens from Ebay for around £30 back then and shot a picture of my daughter which to this day is the best photo I've ever taken.
The sharpness and bokeh from such a cheap lens was stunning.

Sure, the big players are Canon & Nikon but Pentax is my favourite. Also got a K-01 with the pancake lens but it's a fugly brick

If I thought I could get it past the wife I would be all over this.

I got the k-70 on the £199 deal purely for the astrotracer functionality. Picked up a o-gps1 module on the cheap from amazon warehouse when they had one of those 20% off deals and a samyang 10mm from ebay. Bargain setup for astrophotography.

How much does the full setup cost? I take it you need a telescope, too?

£199 camera plus £137 for the gps unit and another £200 for the lens. The astrotracer is limited in the duration it can track and better suited for wide angle astro landscapes. For deep sky and planetary photography you need a triplet refractor on a EQ mount and a purpose built camera like this

are you not finding quite a bit of distortion at the edges with such a wide angle?
glad you found a responsible adult to cobble it all together too

there is plenty amazing stuff done with regular cameras and long lenses using trackers
