Can't see any reason why you shouldn't get your cashback from Pentax. Here is a link for the info

This is a great offer, not only for people who have older Pentax lenses. If you are looking for your first DSLR, go to a shop and handle this camera and see how it feels in your hand. Technically it is the most advanced in this price class.

I dont want to rant on about AA batteries here but you have the option of both worlds with the K-r. You can use readily available AA batteries and a Lythium battery is also supplied with the camera. The universal battery option and it's small size makes the K-r the ideal travel SLR.

OK, but £20 cheaper at Park Cameras:

This is also a very new model and is currently rather over priced, IMO, as they all are when first released. Nikon D3100 is available for less currently and is probably a better camera, or the Pentax K-x, which is almost as good as the K-r is over £100 less.

In the new year the K-r will probably drop considerably in price, when it will become a good buy, at £449 its not that great.

Thanks for posting and not voting cold, but not hot either IMO.

On paper the K-r beats the D3100... only in video does the D3100 look to have an advantage

At the park cameras price (429) .. I think it is worth paying for over the K-x.. Havent seen the K-x single camera lens kit go for less than 350..

But you can get the Pentax K-x for £375 with a twin lens kit + quidco @ Currys (using code - see link below). I ordered one from Currys a couple of days ago, but am new to slr's, is there much of a difference between them?

Just had a quick Google, and here is a table of comparison between the Pentax k-7, k-r, and the k-x. dpreview.com/pre…kr/

Yeah the twin lens kit K-x deal is very good.

The single lens kit K-x deal not so good compared to:

Theres is a good summary here of the K-r and the K-r compared to K-x

It's also significantly cheaper than its main rivals.

Although to all intents and purposes it looks and feels virtually … Although to all intents and purposes it looks and feels virtually identical to the year-old K-x, don't let that put you off the K-r. The bigger and higher-res screen, improved auto-focus complete with illuminated points, faster 6fps continuous mode, and ISO range of 100-25600 all add up a camera that's well-positioned between the entry-level K-x and the venerable but still capable K-7.

I wouldn't worry, shakallis. You will probably very happy with your K-x twin-lens kit

yup dont worry...i just got a k-x twin lens kit and ive handled k-rs for abit...the k-x is very good

This is a great camera for the price. The improvements from the kx make it so much more of a pleasure to use.
