which store?????

I saw it in Manchester Arndale although I suspect it will be in quite a few, their range of SLR's tends to be pretty good in larger stores.

i got this deal at xmas, it is an excellent package, although the Nikkon/Sony brigade would probably dissagree!

Possibly although I think the majority of these SLR's are so good you can pretty much go with your preference of brand and get great results whatever you choose.

I use Canon stuff personally but if I did not have all Canon kit and was choosing a new camera I would seriously consider this.

its a good deal

if you are prepared to buy a refurbished one though you can the 18-55/55-300 kit for the same money on eBay

PENTAX K-X DSLR CAMERA 18-55+55-300mm

The KX is a very good camera and a cut above most DSLRS at the price

SNAP! I got this deal at Christmas also. Great camera and very fast, and the low light performance is excellent. I would recommend using Sanyo Eneloop AA Batteries and upgrading the firmware to avoid the initial battery problems though. All in all, I'm very pleased with it, and in this price range you'd find this camera Very hard to beat.

What a Price!!!

The K-x is good, and uses the same sensor as Nikon's D90 and D5000. However, I think for an extra £100, the D5000 bundle is better value: jessops.com/onl…tml.

Have been thinking of buying the d5000 bundle, was just about to ask which one was better, could you explain to me,( a novice) why an extra £100 is money well spent please.

I was keen on the Kx for a while and at this price I'd have gone for it, but I recently opted for a Canon... I probably made the "correct" decision although the Pentax gets great reviews.
Hot price IMO.

Very happy with my SOny A500 for £295 brand new from comet,it really is a amazing piece of kit.

voting this cold due to the Battery issues.

There are pros and cons to having the AA batteries. I have this camera and I am stunned at the brilliant performance of the camera using rechargable Sanyo Eneloops. Another advantage is that should you run out of battery power on the go it is more likely you can get access to some fully charged AAs, whether that be a new set bought on the go or some additional cheap rechargeables.

I have no regrets buying this camera. The only regret is not buying a 2 lens set like this as I later stumped up another £175 for an additional lens having paid £350 for the camera and kit lens.

pentax 50-200mm is £115!! you were robbed.

The extra will get you access to Nikon's lenses and Creative Lighting System (if you add an SB-700, SB-800 or SB-900 speedlight to act as a wireless commander), a vari-angle display, long-lasting Lithium-Ion battery, HDMI output, visible AF points and AF confirmation indicator in the viewfinder, AF illuminator lamp, arguably-better metering and vibration reduction, greater exposure compensation range.

It's hard to rag on the K-x too much, though, as it probably shares much with the D5000 and D90. It's still a good camera, and in fact, shortly after buying my D5000, I realised I probably should have at least considered the K-x as it was probably better VFM than the D5000 when the price differential was greater. dpreview.com/rev…kx/ seems to be a pretty good review, and compares it with the D5000 and other competitors.

Thanks cowbutt, will read the review and research the info you have given me, thank you

I wouls strongly advise not to buy from reading reviews only. As a camera is a tool, you need to hold it in your hands. If it feels right, buy it. Technical stuff is secondary, IMO.

I got the last one in Oxford - £399.97. The D3100 twin lens set was £499.99, but I from snapsort.com/com…100 I decided the Pentax was the better bet.

Hot from me! I got this package last year for £450 and have been very impressed with the camera.

As cybersheep I got this in the £450 deal last year for going to Cambodia / Malaysia. I was a total beginner to SLRs and I think as a beginner's SLR this is perfect. Some people dislike the lack of lion batteries, but especially in remote areas where mains power is limited the ability to switch batteries is excellent - I recommend getting 2 sets of 4 Sanyo Eneloop or similar high-capacity batteries for this use.

The camera is well built and very robust - I went hiking through the jungle with this and ended up walking waist-high up a fast flowing river in order to get to a waterfall with this held above my head. No issues with moisture either from that or the general humidity. I'm still using this now, and intend to get a F1.4 lens soon for portraits.

I just got this today from Currys Harrow -on-the hill. It was last piece and it was display so I manage to get camera bag for free... heat added...

Update to this- it came into stock online at pc world, currys and dixons so ordered it. 4 days passed and still no dispatch email. Rang and was told that when they went to dispatch it to me they found they had no stock. They said I needed to wait for up to 28 days to see if it comes back in to stock. Went and found the last non display item in pc world telford, and am very pleased with the camera. The DSG group, however, are just as bad for customer service as they ever were, now to pay some more of my money ringing them again to get my credit card refunded for the camera which was never delivered.
