Priced at £6.29 (excluding vat) but discount was offered at checkout for 1.30. This brings the price to £4.99 excluding VAT. Once VAT is added then price becomes £5.98

agreed, but high street shops, or even takeaway sell these cans for 1 pound each.

Poundland is the cheapest place to get individual cans compared to other high street shops, even their price is higher than this. Remember this is not a multi-pack
Great price, thanks OP. H+
Same price as my local Tesco’s

This offer isn’t on the Costco’s voucher book.
it’s £4.99 plus vat
telcoengr08/12/2019 11:01

There is no vat shown in the receipt.

it’s got a 2 next to the item which means vat is paid. a 0 means no vat.

Not sure if you are looking at the receipt attached .. It is 6.29 with VAT.. And then discount offered at check out 1.30

6.29 - 1.30 = 4.99

Dont Trust the label.. See what is scanned at check out.
I paid £5.98 today, still a good price but its not £4.99!

So the offer which I got yesterday must have been expired.

It was 6.29 with vat then store coupon was 1.30

Maybe the till staff just didn't apply it for me?! I didn't see it instore as an advertised offer but do find sometimes when you get to the till they apply various offers!

Correct, they sometimes do.. I also found 24 red bull cans for 14 pound something.. That is bar coded ones.. Which means each can for less than a pound.. Same redubull cans are sold for 1.29 at least on most shops
Good deal but linked with diabetes and obesity...stay away if you can...dissolves enamel of your teeth, increase reflux...moderation is good but a lot more aggressive approach is needed for stuff like this to tackle chronic disease...

Yawn, let's just eat vegetables and drink water and have a great time...

Meanwhile in the real world there are no concrete studies linking Pepsi max to diabetes or obesity (hence NHS and many others recommend it for diabetics for obvious reasons...)

Reference from a peer reviewed journal?

Veg and water do contribute to a great time....
It’s definitely £4.99 + VAT - I bought 6 cases from Sheffield last week. They had Pepsi Diet & Pepsi Max on offer. Cherry Max was still full price! Maybe have a look at the total amount charged at the bottom of your receipt, deduct the amounts of the other items and you’ll see that the Persil and the Pepsi were both VAT’d - it’s standard that carbonated drinks get VAT added on legally so unless Costco machines are bugging, there will be VAT on top of the £4.99. Still an awesome deal though!

Bro, I know they have VAT added on it.. But Costco checkout gave a store coupon in the end of 1.30... If you deduct this amount from the 6.29 then it comes down to be 4.99

5.98 is possibly the warehouses price but maybe the system was giving discount at the time I bought it.
It’s £4.99 plus VAT = £5.98 it has a VAT code 2 next to 6.29 and also at the bottom of the receipt 20% excl. VAT total and last column VAT total.

Are you a trade member? Because you need to pay VAT on £4.99. What does the VAT total at the bottom say?

Yes I am trade member, I don't understand why it didn't scanned with 5.98.. For me it scanned 6.29 including VAT but then I got the store coupon applied of 1.30.. Which made it 4.99.. Both coupon and actual item value has VAT inclusive in it.. Check the receipt attached in description
All prices on Costco receipt shows ex VAT, on the far right hand side. As your receipt shows There is number, 0 = 0 VAT to pay, and 2 = 20% VAT which shows next to cans, as a trade member you don’t pay VAT for purchases for trade use.
If I recall at the very bottom you should have £0 amount in the VAT column but this might have change since I had them years ago.
As for others like me at the far bottom of the receipt it shows 2 totals one ex VAT and one VAT to be paid.
It’s been 15 years since I was trade member so things might have changed. But If someone use trade purchases for other than business/trade then they need to be careful as they might be committing VAT fraud.

I think i get it now. They charged me £5.98 in the end.

When you scan it, it will appear as £6.29 excluding VAT . We both had the same price scanned.
Then store applies the coupon which makes it £4.99. Then it add the VAT back again to 4.99 which makes it £5.98

I paid VAT , like you just showed (even though i am trade member). it still included VAT in the end
