Is this cast iron?

Thanks

If the pan is a good one then it's a great price. Though I have to ask are the knives traditional - or essential? The perfect steak (or even one that's been cooked properly) shouldn't need anything more than a regular table knife.

Aluminium according to this video

supposedly using a steak knife 'tears' the meat, which is supposed to improve flavour. Personally, if the steak tastes good, it tastes good, if it doesn't It doesn't matter what knife i use :P

The more a steak is 'torn' then the better it will taste, (dependant on natural rearing and god cooking), this is because the fibres will be tenderised by the cooking process to 'slacken' the meat, by tearing rather than cutting you encourage the meat to 'give up' its flavour.
.

Cooking a steak isn't exactly difficult as long as you are clear on how you want it done. The trickiest thing is cooking them for several guests who all want them cooked different, but expect them at the same time. I can see this would be a good kit for beginner cooks who are too confident yet though.
