If you use non bio regularly, make sure you do a service wash on your machine every couple of months. Run an empty machine on a hot wash with either a washing machine cleaner or cheap bio washing powder
Yesterday Wilko in Telford had 105 washes for £9, it wasn't marked as reduced so could be national

These new liquids are much better for our skin but can cause a build up of black gunk and slime (like the stuff you see in the dispenser drawer), this is partly due to the lack of bleach that old powders use to contain. It can also cause your machine to smell. Dr beckman do one (link below). Or you can just run your empty machine on a minimum 60 degree wash with a really cheap soap powder (don't use fast wash cycle). Can prolong the life of your machine and help make clothes wash and smell better.

Ta. Really helpful.
Bought the Aldi bio or non bio for £1.79 for 25 washes, seen a 78 wash for £4.89.

I have recently bought a new AEG washing machine and have used Bold washing powder just for ever. However, this new washing machine even at 60 leaves powder marks on clothes. In fact whilst it is the most expensive machine I have ever owned, sadly it has turned out to be the most disappointing. I now use Bold liquid as a detergent and this has seemingly solved the problem but it was interesting to read Avantime's post re cleaning machine. One to keep in mind
