Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled high school students - the protagonist and a collection of compatriots he meets in the game’s story - who live dual lives as Phantom Thieves. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high schooler - attending class, after school activities and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self”.

The game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective masks and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and use it to strive to help those in need.

Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern-day society wears.

Probably worth waiting for the remaster.

Remaster of a current gen? Wut?

It's more an expanded edition/director's cut than plain remaster. Atlus usually does these for Persona games. Also, Persona 5 started out and was also released as a PS3 game (at the same time as the PS4 version).

But yeah, I'd also hold out for the 'Royal' version. It's out end of this month in Japan. They've said Spring 2020 for rest of world. My (not particularly well-educated!) guess is they'll be aiming for a first quarter release, to get sales in before the end of the fiscal year.

This is the thing I keep debating. 2020 release date, but WHEN in 2020?? Ugh

It is a remaster. The original persona 5 was on PS3 and it's super rare
I want to play this but not badly enough to sacrifice high fps, high refresh rates and extra graphical options. I was buying PS4 exclusives in the past, playing them for approximately 1 hour then going back to the PC. Sony has a unbelievable catalogue of games but with substandard hardware

That's a ridiculous comment, this game ran impeccably when I played it and is one of the best looking games of this gen in terms of style.

You don't need 4k or 144fps to make a good game.

First of all it isn't ridiculous. Persona 5 runs at 30 fps on the PS4 (Not sure about Pro) so running impeccably at 30fps shouldn't be difficult to achieve *The human eye sees 24 fps bla bla bla* whatever. I tried to play Detroit: Become Human which is a slow paced game at a smooth locked 30 fps or so I'm led to believe and it felt awful.

I wasn't knocking the game but the inferior hardware it's played on. When you have the rig capable of achieving 60fps and above on most games with 1440p and 4K who in their right mind would want to drop down to 1080p 30fps worse graphics on a 60hz tv.

If it ever came out on the PC I would gladly sink 100, 150 hours, 200 hours or however long it takes to complete. On the PS4 I would be lucky to last a few hours on it.

I also made the point of praising the PS4 Exclusives especially the story driven ones and would like to play them but not enough so to have to play them on the PS4, which I do own by the way, but the base model rather than the Pro.

By the way I still upvoted the deal.

P5R is to P5 as P4G was to P4, that is, it's a lot more than a remaster, with new characters, arcs, events, tweaks, extended ending etc. And the PS3 version wasn't the original, it was released on both at the same time.

A remaster refers to upgraded higher fidelity graphics, audio, etc.

The upcoming version is an expanded rerelease. Still maybe worth waiting for if someone's held off until now though.

Well a soft remaster they have mentioned updated details, and changed backgrounds.

You're determining whether to play the game based on it being 30fps, that is ridiculous.

I do have a rig that does 1440p at 60fps too.
Such a wonderful game. Roll on the remaster!
Superb game, love it, not completed yet, its a bit grindy tho, but love the story

Spring is going to be a ridiculous time for games...

Doom (delayed), Borderlands 3 on Steam (I held strong!), Cyberpunk, P5 Royals, TLOU2, Bloodlines 2, FF VII remake and probably many more that I can't think of right now.

So who’s was bigger in the end? The other guy I think

So who’s was bigger in the end? The other guy I think

I don't think you understood the argument... 'The other guy' was the one suggesting games aren't worth playing (at least to him though he's expressing it in less subjective language) if you're used to higher resolutions and faster frame rates. The guy you were responding to had the more reasonable view that it just isn't that important. He has a pc that can do all that (relevant to the argument, not bragging) and can still enjoy games at 1080p instead of higher, 30fps instead of higher

Everything in the world looks different with varying levels of detail. Everything in the world moves differently, with varying paces. But for the most part these aren't points of comparison or things we think about. Discarding games purely due to resolution or fps seems inherently like an individual's subjective issue from some psychological source rather than anything that can be argued objectively, when those things don't detract in some significant and uncomfortable manner. Especially when the vast majority have no issue enjoying these games as they're presented.
For any fans of the game who own a Mi Band 4, this watch face should interest you!
