This is the only new personal CD player on sale for under a tenner at the moment, but will probably still get voted cold on HUKD simply because it's seen as old technology. Still, my cynicism may be proved wrong.

I'm posting as my Mother in Law has lots of CD's but is hard of hearing and thinks having something portable with earphones will help her. Yes, it's not cutting edge and yes it's made by Alba, but no one has posted a personal CD player here on HUKD as yet so hopefully this will help someone else looking for a bargain CD player.

Voted hot (for those who have parents who can't figure out how to use an mp3 player!!), but I won't be buying it :P.

Thought this was one of those robot vacuum cleaners when I seen the picture, not seen one of these in ages!

Cheers Wesley, you've renewed my faith in HUKD'ers a little as that's exactly why I posted it. Wish more people on here would realise soothing can be a good (hot) deal even if it's not something they personally want to buy.
Hard to put a value on something like this today. They go for a little as £2 on ebay and you can pick up a new Philips model for around this price.

Nope! Nothing out there at all for under a tenner, even on fleabay the only one that's new works out over £10.00 when you add the postage, go check Amazon and flea bay before telling wee fibs.
worth it if your regular hifi cd player is on the blink and has an auxiliary input i suppose

I have bought these more than once in charity shops for £2 or less- good brands too.
I recently tried eBay for a portable CD player. Dismayed that were all over £10
I want to use the parts to build my own pull string Muji CD-Player

Didn't think of a charity shop though - that's my weekend sorted

Bought one of these a few months ago as my Technics HiFi stopped playing CDs. Plugged this into the AUX socket and it was terrble. Jumped or didn't read most discs at all.

Ended up buying a second hand Sony Portable CD Player off Ebay and it worked fine.

Poor quality even at this price
Voted hot for the price, but any portable cd player reallly needs shock protection memory unless you are just using it sitting in a chair at home. Amazed that they still make players without it.
Cold! How you ment to carry that round in your pocket?
I think you ment meant.
