Had this and the pump died in less than 3 months
did you get a replacement?
Had one of these for years. It finally persuaded my cat to drink fresh water from the fountain instead of the rank stuff in the flower pots outside......
Our dog loves it too.
Well worth the outlay if you love your animals.
I've always wanted one of these but I'm sure carbon won't be enough to clean it all the time as it will produce algea and colect all the dust from the environment.. I keep thhree water bowls in the house and refresh them every day so my cat drinks anytime he sees some water around

We had ours three years and was still going strong until we upgraded to a 5L one due to more cats.
We have this... The pump did go faulty but if you clip out the sides of the pump and give it a good clean... Ours was full of siliva and hair... Now I clean it every week... Good as gold. The cat takes my cleaning skills for granted.
Have had one of these for 6 years. Have had to replace the pump once for about £15. Cats drink from it much more than a bowl I think. I watch my girls lap from the waterfall part.

You're meant to clean the pump fairly frequently. I do mine at least once a month or when it starts sounding like pump is struggling.

Was it the impeller that was clogged?
Put clean water down for our cats every day. Still they seem to prefer a muddy puddle!

The pump has 2 sides... One side has the control and the other side a small grill type thingy if you take of both sides... The grill side has the most gunk. I sometimes take a saucer of water and while on I place it halfway full so that the water sucks up and muck pumps out of the top. Also sometimes it would not work at all and after a little knock it would work... Also thehalfway pug would go green so I would have to use wire wool to clean it to make a better power connection ... Sorry to go on. Lol

Same, went through 3 replacements, all died in same timeframe
I think it all depends on your routine. Don’t let it run dry and the pump won’t struggle. I give the entire thing a good rinse every other day. Plus a thorough cleaning every weekend which means taking it to bits, washing the carbon and replacing if necessary, taking off the pump and scrubbing off any grime and bleaching all the plastic bits. A small bottle brush is useful for cleaning the output tube. 10 minutes and you’re away. Mines been going strong for years.

I would say at least once weekly

Yeah I'm lazy
I don't change the filters as often as it states either and it's lasted and worked well for 6 years.
I am planning to upgrade to a ceramic one that doesn't need filters.

Probably because the tap water will stink of chlorine, which I should imagine will smell even stronger to a creature like a cat.

My cat has had several types of fountains all of which the pumps die within a year. However as several have said here, the pump in this one is serviceable.

The other plus to this is our cat seems to think each level is different (flavour??). He usually drinks out the highest level but occasionally switches it around and tries the other two levels.
Had one but my alpha cat used it as a bidet, i got fed up shooing away the other thirsty cats whilst i tried to clean the darn thing.
Essential for cat owners
Had one five years at least. Still going strong as long as I keep the pump clean.
Genuinely didn't know this was a thing, I just pour some fresh Brita filtered water in every morning and the little devil seems fine with it
I prefer the good old fashioned way - especially after trying an automatic feeder. The worst purchase of my life.
I found the best way to clean it was to take it out of the reach of the cat and run it with a steriliser tablet once per week, rinse and refill, cleans all the hard to reach parts.
Even though it has a filter change the water every day.

Good price for a great product - heated!
Got 1 of these in the cupboard, my cat use to drink from it but he rathers to drink from a normal bowl

Good price though so Heat added
There's a different 3L model for £19.99 @Aldi
My cat seems to prefer drinking from the tap unfortunately lol!
