Peugeot Full Service price error - £179.99

Rang around local main dealerships and best price for most comprehensive service they offered was £250 for a full scheduled service. Went onto Peugeot online booking and came up at 179.99 at my local garage at m.r. King in Lowestoft. Rang the garage back and they said the price was incorrect, but they would match it.

I know main dealerships are not a moneysaving way of maintaining your car, but if you were gonna book in then best have a look at this first as I saved 70 quid.

I bought my car recently so this is always good way to get your car properly inspected with the free health check before your next MOT as I know what to expect in the future.

Is that with the parts or just service?

Many main dealerships will price match independant garage service prices these days to get your business

You can haggle over service costs with most main dealers

That's for parts and labour. 179.99 is the price I paid.

Less than 179.99? For major service? Good luck with that one. Halfords charge £215. I rung three local main dealerships and none price matched arguing there's are all genuine parts with trained mechanics and giving you dealership stamp in the book. Maybe it's just the East Coast not as lucky as test of the country.

Don't know how this one can go cold, like to hear if someone else got more than 70 quid off

People vote cold because it started off as cold. A service on a Peugeot is expensive compared to other brands. On my Prius I used to pay as little as £129 for an interim service. When I bought my peugeot, I went for a service plan as it worked out a lot cheaper than paying as you go. I serviced cars in places like kwik fit and halfords before and it was done quite badly. Once my cam belt broke as the guys from halfords did not do it correctly. You buy a car at a considerable price, take it to a reputable garage and pay the price for it. Voted hot!!!

Cheers, thought I was going mad and everyone else was getting serviced for £4.50 or something.

Has anyone got a cheaper deal than this at main dealership they can list cos I would like to know how to get it cheaper. This is the major service, including extensive health check and fluid top ups in addition to photo'd above not the interim one

Just checked as my Peugeot is due a full service soon and I can pick from 3 Peugeot garages local to me and for the same service the cheapest is £250 and highest is £310. Sod's law the most expensive is the closest garage.

Main dealers are generally awful in my experience. I go to a local garage where they care about repeat custom and will do it cheaper.

I got 2 years manufacturer servicing and 1st MOT for £259 when buying a 1 year old Peugeot. Some crazy prices being quoted here for what's little more than an oil change.

They look after your car better generally too. My Golf GTD was taken on a 28 mile joyride on someone's lunch break when it was recently in at Benfield for some minor warranty work that did not require a test drive, and they managed to put a cluster of 4 paint chips on one of the wings and then crudely splodged clear lacquer over the top of each chip (I suspect they dropped a tool on the wing while adjusting the door hinges) and said nowt. It's in for remedial work (sort out the paint chips) and I fear it will come out in a worse state than it went in.

Luckily my sister's boyfriend works at a Peugeot garage so we both got Peugeot and he's not allowed to leave!
