The only thing wrong with this deal is Currys/PC World. I really don't feel valued when I enter the store.

i bought this last week... its OK.
ebuyer.com/788…-00

i bought it to replace an old 720 tv and its used for casting to, as well as for console gaming on lower end systems (orig. xbox and ps2) as well as kodi and retro emulators through a raspberry pi - so general 'telly stuff'- at that, its absolutely fine.

I don't use it as a regular monitor for text so can't speak for that, but as i spend most of my time in the command line and use a mac with a lovely display at work, i'm spoiled and would expect a high quality display for that purpose, so probably not this.

When it powers on to black screen, i notice a fair amount of bleed, but really when being used as i use it, its absolutely fine.

Last time I entered one of their stores, their car park operator tried to charge e £100 for parking.
They failed because I can read and did so with the legislation.
They also lost a customer forever who had made 12 purchases in the previous month and many more over the years
Amazon all the way for me now.

Horrible company avoid
1440p at this size. 1080p is going to look like garbage.
What will this be like for 60Hz console gaming such as PS4?
I've got a 1080p 65 inch tv and it looks good
Zegna29/01/2020 22:05

Yes actually

I agree here. When I've run my 27" BenQ at 1080p it just doesn't look right. Gaming included - I've switched up to 1440p but lowered graphical quality to compensate and it looked much better at 1440.

Perhaps its not noticeable if you haven't got that higher frame of reference. But I wouldn't buy a 27" that can't do 1440p.

If I understood your comment right... You tried your 1440p monitor at 1080p and it doesn't look right? That's not the same thing as a native 1080p monitor.

The same number of pixels occupy the same amount of real estate if the input is the same and the screen size is the same? Clearly a 1440p monitor can run at lower res.

And I'm not saying it doesn't look right. It looks 'right' - but it looks a whole lot better at higher res.

If I've said something stupid you're going to have to spell it out to me

Native will always look better than upscaling, to me. By setting your 1440p monitor to 1080p, there has to be some internal scaling to fill all the pixels, and that will always look a bit off, compared to 1:1.

I bought my last but one tablet from there, I hung around for about an hour trying to get some sales droid to talk to me then went out to the car and ordered online and went back in to pick it up!

It’s an electrical store....... What are you expecting? Canapés? A deep tissue massage?

Lol. As evidenced above, it's not exactly the nation's favourite. I steer clear and the relief I feel is like a deep tissue massage.
At £120 for 1080p 27" (vs £200-ish or more for a 1440p 27"), this looks like a great deal for an affordable general use monitor.

For anyone wondering about 1080p vs 1440p, and 'should I buy this monitor, or not?' this (2016) video is worth a quick watch. Highlights the real world differences without getting too 'techy': youtube.com/wat…ZQQ

Summary (for non-gamers): You can fit more content on the 1440p monitor, and 1440p text looks crisper, but is also bit small and harder to read. Programs are not designed to be optimised around 1440p resolution (but likely will be around 1080p or 4K etc).

Guys stop hating this shop in secluded areas. Go to trustviewers, google review or any other ratings website and leave your comments there, giving a chance to change something to this droid filled company who employ nutcrackers over busy periods. Who got no clue what they sell.
And their employment policy tests can only be passed if you idiot but know how to fuxx about instead of help customers.
I own a Philips monitor

Good timing, now they're quoting: Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

I actually cancelled my order last night before it was dispatched.

Spent a bit extra and went for this instead:

laptopsdirect.co.uk/ele…asp

Higher refresh rate (95Hz) plus 1440p, thought I'd future proof myself considering it usually takes me years to upgrade anything!
