Welcome

This is the one I bought from EmpireDirect for £620 with 3yrs warranty it's a very nice TV.

How much is the warranty cost at Currys (can't access site from work)

Stated before that i purchased this set from John lewis when it was at £664 + 5 year warranty......Absolute bargain .
if you can get it at this price just go for it EXCELLENT set......i have had no regrets whatsoever buying it......picture quality on SD excellent .....running xbox360 through component at 1080i as tv upscales it to 1080i......stunning.......DVD quality amazing.

The tv cannot upscale to 1080i, it is only 768P, which means the 1080i signal will be downscaled.

Coincidence - Just had a booklet of vouchers from Makro - they give £150 off this tv so it is:
£499.99 + vat = £587.5
No 3 year warranty (£199.99 +vat).
Available 21.11.07 to 30.11.07.
Might be useful if you have a Makro card

Glad to see good comments for this T.V. We bought one a while back from curry's (Possibly not quite as good as this deal) The TV, 5 Years Warranty and a nice schexy black glass stand for £850 (After haggling the guy down). Its just unfortunate I have not had chance to have a proper go on it cas we are having our house renovated.

Good Price tho!!!!

Nice, HDTV's are nearly falling as much as Northern Rock shares.

With HDMI 1.3 round the corner..... and also 5.1 surround over the air....

They will be dropping more than Northern Rock

Don't forget DVB-T2 (HD Freeview) :whistling:

sounds like a good deal. Should I go for this?
mmm...
decisions... decisions.

Talkshop... that's another excellent reason not to buy..... I think Humax have a standalone set top box to do this at the moment... also I am expecting them to have a HD PVR out soon if its not out that is...

I don't use the freeview receiver that is in my TV at the moment instead I use the SKY HD which I got wired through my surround sound, but its another good point why we shouldnt be buying HD Panels now...........

Any Freeview HD material will not be available for years to come (if at all) so unless You've got Sky HD I would not worry.

Cant speak about DVB-T2 but HDMI 1.3 is pretty pointless - imho, nothing significant.

Yes, very good, tv very pleased with purchase:)

i only saw the lcd which lloks pretty much the same in my local. you sure it was the plasma?

You shud never judge the picture quality of a tv from what u see in shops! They usually drive the majority of ther tvs off a very poor quality SD signal which is displayed across all of their tv's!

It is definately Plasma. If you go to Currys website, and search for 42PFP5532, you will see it's Plasma. I've checked the TV out in my local store (£799.99), and was extremely impressed. Some of the picture qualities on several TV's were dogdy, but the tech guy explained about the SD signal being sent to the TV's. Mine's arriving Sunday, can't wait. Will post my findings.

Kulaak is absolutely right freeview hd is dead as a dodo

Ordered mine last night!!

Arrives Wednesday!!! Woo hoooo!!!

 great find :-D
