I have the 50 inches model purchased from Argos recently. This is the same as the 7906 type more widely available. The 8106 was exclusive to Argos, but now with Costco as well. The only difference from the 7906 is the colour of the bezel. This model does not have the +Hue feature of Ambilight i.e. you can't sync this with Hue lamps. Other 8000 series models with '6' or '7' (6=2021 model, 7=2022 model) in the end have the +Hue feature and are generally better in specs and build quality. This model although appears to be 8000 series is just a rebadged 7000 series.

    Hi everyone,

I happened to have purchased a slightly older version of this TV although mine is the 4-sided version back in 2020 and after using it for a long period of time, it's actually very good. Still using it today. I also got the 2021 version for another room and this TV is noticeably faster/more responsive than 2020 version even though the TV we got this time is physically smaller, perhaps a faster processor?

If you want to see a review I recorded on the 2020 version, please check it out below. It's quite (unexpectedly) lengthy and the interface has since been updated slightly but it covers a lot of the positives and negatives.

Hope that all helps your purchasing decision! (edited)

    Hughes is selling a better specced 50 inches Ambilight model (8556 - 50PUS8556-12) for £12 extra: hughes.co.uk/pro…-12

Costco is very likely to reduce the price on this one as currently there is no offer on these, these prices are full prices. They have 2 high-end mini LED Ambilight models (9000 series with soundbar) for almost half the price of other retailers.

It seems to be £381. Did it go up in price recently?

I got it for £340 about 4 months ago, brilliant TV, lights are annoying to me but they look great if mounted to a wall, mines on a stand. Set the TV up properly with YouTube TV setup video, turn of vivid as it's wrong colour density so films will look washed out...after correct setup it pretty darn good, better than my hisense 43" that lasted 3 months. Chinese TVs are awful.

I have the 55" from argos a few months ago. Do you have the link to the YouTube video?

"Online only" subscription for £15 is enough to buy? I don't have any membership now...

I’m tempted to buy a new 43” TV but don’t “really” need it! My current 37” won’t seem to die although it would be nice to have smart features built in! I’ve even considered buying secondhand as I won’t particularly use 4K resolution. I’m in temporary accommodation at the moment and can’t really go over 43” (similar foot print to my Samsung 37”) otherwise I’d hope to go for a 50/55” OLED! So at some point id have to move the 43” on! I don’t know which 43” to go for or just hang on to my trusty Samsung!?

I’ve just purchased a telly from Costco and it comes with their 5 year warranty. If anyone has had a tv from them before how does the cover work? Do I need to register the tv for it or keep the receipt and call if/when something happens to the telly. Any help would be appreciated, thanks (edited)

My 10 year old LG blew up recently so I used a discount code when Argos had these for £300 and got mine for £270. Worth every penny. Ambilight looks great mounted to my bedroom wall. Better contrast than the old telly and the sound is acceptable without a soundbar. Word of warning though is that this model is famous for having a laggy android menu system/apps. I use mine exclusively with XBOX and don’t use the built in apps so it’s a non issue for me - but I would only recommend the TV if you’re planning to plug into another source (which could potentially ruin your wall mounting plans). The only other negative I can think of is there is some edge bleed/dark corner vignetting, which is pretty much standard on a cheap edge-
48968566-hcNkv.jpglit panel (I’ll be holding out for an OLED when the living room TV dies).
