Not really mixed IMO, 4 or 5 stars... the two 1 star reviews probably received a faulty set... Seriously, how can a tv be THAT bad that it deserved a single star? Did it kill their kids or something?

I'm waiting for either a higher end 1080p set or a mid range 4K set at 40" to be in the sale. Hope it's live at midnight and they don't just take the site down all night like they usually do!

This Xbox One Fifa 16 Bundle will be £279

Sorry should have said just TVs, already have a xb1. Would be in the market for another fire tv box at £65 though if they show. Thanks though!

It's a good deal - but if you are genuinely in the market for true 4K then you'd need to look for a TV that supports HDR because that's the format that will shine through all the others.
Before somebody asks as it seems they missed it off the listing and is pretty important.

HDCP 2.2
Yes to all HDMI

Course you can just buy on the web covered by consumer contracts which.co.uk/con…ons
Looks to me like it's a new budget Philips range. A basic tv with a 4K screen. Pretty clever of them.

I can't believe they don't add if a set is HDCP 2.2 in any of the specs. Massive problems if like me you have fire tvs all around the house and or netflix. It's actually surprising how many don't list the VESA size on there websites, I think Samsung is one. They just have "YES" next to "VESA MOUNT" in the specs. I nearly bought a Sony tv which Argos list as being 200x200 but on Sony's site it's actually 300x200 and my wall bracket is only upto 200x200. So many mistakes in the listings of these big companies.

Not sure how these rate, it's a good price but Phillips sold off their TV division an TP Vision now use the name
http://www.tpvision.com/about-us/

Not necessarily bad, just mentioning it as like so many well known brands, they don't actually make the product.

Will this work with a PIONEER VSX323 AV Receiver?
Not sure if the receiver is set up for HDCP2.2..

Not seen this TV IRL but what's great about it is its not spannered by android or apps.... better to connect your boxes to it.

Exactly its pretty important to know. There was a cheap (£229) TV from AO listed earlier that's not 2.2 so for 4k content you are pretty much stuck with the inbuilt Netflix or use it as a computer monitor.

Full spec sheet: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/cpindex.pl?scy=UA&slg=EN&ctn=55PUT4900/12

Catch is that it's outside of the nice core specs it's very barebones.

No smart TV functionality outside of the USB media player, no 3D and it probably has very little in the way of picture processing.
Hope people did their analysis before going with 4K UHD as this is NOT a smart TV.. The frequency/HDMI connectivity/USB speed all matters if the smart device is external !

I think they are trying to just brush it the carpet, when googling about you just read sets from 2015 should have hdcp 2.2. It's not good enough, customers should be told straight away, in fact the sets without should be pulled or discounted heavily with the customer being told about its shortfalls.
I think I want a smart TV, one that records to HD via USB port and has dual tuners. I can't find out whether this has the last 2 but it's definitely not smart. Still a great price, I'd like to see some reviews of screen quality though before buying.

If the receiver is not then you will have to cable the device directly to the TV and send the audio over optical. Some 4k bluray players will have twin HDMI output with video and audio over one and audio only over its sister port (Sony I think). This only affects 4k content mind.

Good most of the low end smart features are junk anyway. Slow clumsy and most of it not for our market.
Seems a pretty good deal, good point is the optical audio out is multi-channel unlike my panasonic that is only stereo. Shame it doesn't have iPlayer etc but then again NowTV boxes are so cheap.
Might buy one and keep it in the box until someone can confirm if it is possible for it to start up with HDMI as a default source instead of the freeview tuner. My panasonic TV is really annoying, every time it is switched on it goes to the free view tuner and I have to press the AV button on the remote to select one of the HDMI inputs. Gets kind of tiring as I have no need for the freeview.
So is hdcp2.2 good or bad?
Supermarket TV, for Supermarket price. Not for me though

I was a fan of 'old' Philips but not 'new' Philips.

Good, some TVs don't have it and so some content won't work.

Hi, I have the Philips smart 50" that I purchased 2 years ago and it has been a brilliant tv. Like you say it is multi channel sound and when I fire up the sky box the TV comes on automatically on that HDMI port so no faffing about and that's not a lot to ask.
