Worst TV I ever bought, literally caught fire after owning it for 5 months. Something went wrong with ambilight and I saw burn marks around the edge of screen and on the frame of TV itself, potentially overheated LED light which is in the back of the TV with burn mark at the opposite of the LED .Philips stated engineers had a look at the pictures I emailed to them and they came to conclusion that it is mechanical fault and they put blame on us!! That was all done over the picture rather than actually sending someone to collect TV and do proper investigation to make sure this model is actually safe. They invalidated warranty, refused refund and we were £500 out of pocket. Never ever will buy anything from Philips and I strongly discourage anyone to support them.

Just picked up the last one of these from Daventry store and got the £10 voucher as well.
bought this a while ago. unless you have hd content the picture quality with this isnt all that good on the "hd freeview" it comes with. its also very glitchy. all week been having a 401 error. Only decent feature is ambilight. taking this piece of c*** back if it continues to play up. very slow and unresponsive at times

be sure to let us know after a month of usage what you think. very unresponsive times after u press a button on remote until actual tv reponses to your demand, especially when u press settings while watching takes at least 8 seconds to respond to your request

Never had the issue you describe with mine, had it for several months now. It's worth checking for software updates as a few updates back removed all "lag" issues with the TV for me.
401 errors are unauthorized HTTP request errors - probably something with your internet settings or Google account settings causing that?

Seems a lot of hot TVS at Argos lately. I'm thinking Argos have bought out Philips just like they did with bush and hitachi too, and these deals are all a load of BS

Agree. Mines been acting up since I interrupted it updating all apps. Slow and laggy. Try speaking to a Argos resolutions manager. They'll help as you'll also have warranty through Argos for a year too

you probably need to update the tv firmware from their website - as others have done - sorts out most problems

thanks mate. just spoken to philips and was advised to do update and if that fails do a factory reset
Very pleased with mine that I bought 2 months ago. Got used to the back lighting. Plenty of inputs and smart TV features too.

Same factory and same people doesn't mean it's proper Philips product. This TV is developed and made by TPV with Philips badge on...
Sorry, must disagree with the "worst tv" comments. We like the ambient light feature and all our guests agree it is a useful viewing feature. The kids like the "netflix" button on the remote. ;-)

Being a "smart tv" a good reliable internet connection is essential - otherwise lag and slow response will be experienced. We also applied the "updates" to the software and all seems good.

To improve picture quality, it is worth reading this previous post on changing the settings.
I got the 55" last month and think it's really good and for £449 it's a bargain

"LAG" As iin TV not quick to respond after pressing a button. Nothing to do with internet settings!
None of the 49 or 55 in stock anywhere near Gloucester sadly

They are exclusive to argos in U.K. I believe, there is a new oled out at John Lewis now tho so starting to supply other retailers, they have never been really big in U.K. For some reason
i wish people would stop avertising this as a DEAL. its obviously cheaply made and not a proper HDR tv.

These Philips TV will always be cheaper

Is the central stand available for this? I don't have wide chest of drawers. Damn. The perfect stand has Samsung 6020K which my kid **** up last month. Rip 6 months old Samsung.

Yes I saw burn marks, melted plastic and TV was switched off when it started melting from overheating, that's what I meant

Did you happen to pay by credit card? if so you could try going through them for a refund.

I did try getting refund as bought on credit card under section 75, but it was refused because they only cover up to 120 days and I was couple of weeks over that limit.Argos only has 30 days money back guaranteed, hence I was referred to Philips , but as I said they declined it claiming it was us who damaged TV without even investigating it. TV was nover moved, attached to a TV stand and used only few hours a day as we work full time.

Time to pay for an independent TV engineers report then take it through the small claims court. Allot of hassle but I would expect them to back down during the process.

This doesn't ring true them refusing to come out why not take it back to shop or contact seller?

awful calibration video. since I updated firmware, half the options he access are not available done as much as I could and and picture actually looks worse since watching video

It didn't start fire, but was about to as screen started melting and burnt plastic could be visible so it was switched off and unplugged just in time, luckily my daughter made me aware of it, but it was potentially very dangerous

I did take it back that's what I said, was referred to Philips for warranty issue which they declined, I sent them pictures and even video and explenation, but they voided warranty. In my opinionthis model should be recalled for safety issues, but that would cost philips millions in revenue, i am simply describing my terrible experience and frustration I had to deal with. I was so angry I even removed any philips product in my house such as light bulbs etc and threw it away, will never spend a penny on philips product.
I had one for 4 weeks. Ambilight is the best thing going for it. Very laggy and unresponsive compared to the other Android TV I have which is a Sony. Kodi took an age to scroll through.

Colours was vibrant and a fairly sharp picture, had problems with 4k on Amazon to add aswell.
