Ambilight is amazing, can’t go back once you’ve had it though
Aaah, want, but do I reaaaaaly need ......
Remember, if you have a coloured hue lighting setup you can set the tv to link to all your hue bulbs and sync with the ambilight.
Makes for a great Saturday night in watching music videos.

You can but it won't be as fluid as the ambilight.
You can sync the ambilight with either what's being displayed on screen or to the audio.
As others have said, ambilight is a great addition to a large screen tv.

I bought this when it was this price around black friday and the feedback was very good for it and I agree with it, ambilight is also a very interesting and well done idea

I agree , I’m still messing around with it, do you know how to set the sound bar? Eg bass treble settings ?

How does the 6803 differ from the highly rated 6703/6753?

Good question....
apart from the built in soundbar on the 6800 series I can’t tell if there any other difference , hope someone can confirm

No sorry as I use the Audio Return Channel (ARC) HDMI port 1 to go to my AV receiver and use my devices by switching to the right input, some devices go into the AV receiver too, just realised I have the 50PUS6753 which does not the sound bar, I never play with audio settings anyway on stuff like that I leave them down the middle

think it’s Philips smart , I just connectted my chrome cast to it but noticed it already has Philips version of casting called miracast
Great tvs
Ahhh, what to do!? I don't want or need the sound bar, as recently bought a Samsung 650. Had my heart set on the 6703/6753 - due to the universally positive reviews - but less than £400 is my biting point. The 1" difference between the 50pus6703 and 49pus6803 makes me dubious that they're not the same underlying panels
Guessing no HDR on this?

The 50pus6703 is currently £429 if you can price match with richer sounds or John Lewis and get 5-6 year warranty I’d get that if they can’t go for this as it’s pretty much the same tv

How does the 6803 differ from the highly rated 6703/6753?

Having a built in soundbar and scores slightly higher on Philips own picture performance index.
Was hoping to get the 43 inch of this for £350 for the bedroom, this be bit too big for the bedroom

That’s what I thought about a 32” tv I had then went for 42” then few years later got a 50” and now I have 55” and was thinking the other day to go for 60”
Moral of the story bigger is better

Women will alway's say that....
The 50pus6703 is available for £449 from Richer Sounds which is £20 more than Argos or Currys but has a 6 year warranty - does anyone have any experience with RS warranties and know if it's worth the extra cost?
Tried searching but couldn't find any info. Does anyone know of its a VA or IPS panel on this set?

Edit it's an IPS panel I've read.

For this price range it’s a huge competitor, I was going to buy a Panasonic or Samsung but after reading reviews there not the same how they use to be and like you I came to hear about Philips. If you like gaming people have recommended to go for a tv with VA panel which this isn’t

It has the phillips smart system, which, to be fair is very fast and responsive and pretty well laid out, far better in fact than the atrocious android TV some Sonys were released with.

The trouble is I've never seen ambilight in the flesh, retailers never have them on display
