I missed the deal a week or so ago on the model below this, which is currently selling at Argos for £449. This model has a sound bar and slightly better stats for the picture quality. I will post in the first post some more info of comparisions. Also if you buy this through the argos ebay store you can get some cash back from Quidco or Top Cashback.

Ambilight is an absolutely brilliant innovation that no other TV make has. Kudos to Philips TV's division's new owners for bringing their USP much further down the food chain so that anyone looking to spend budget money on a 4K TV can now have this feature. Heat added. I've got a 2 sided Ambilight model and even that is brilliant. Once you've gone Ambilight it's hard to go back to 'normal' TVs...

I picked this up today. Let me know if you want any more pics.

Brill tv
Sorry edited as i had the original price wrong - as you will see I dont post deals that often but just bought this and thought it was worth sharing - I want it to go with my hue lights
I picked up the 50 inch version and it's amazing tbh
Good price for 6803! Heat added. Im looking for the 7303 or 7503 - missed the BF deals and both are now £700 - £750 on Amazon. Might have to think about £6803 unless anyone has a link to a good deal for 7303 / 7503?

Also is the 6803 on Android OS?

Saphi by the looks of the spec sheet I posted in the comments rather than android. Sorry
So what is the difference between the 6803 and 6703, in theory the 6803 should be better but there isn't a lot of information about it. Has anybody got one or had either that could give some insight into their experiences with it

Thanks
Can the soundbar be removed from the bottom of the TV?

I was trying to find this out as well. It has a sound bar and picture quality is slightly better (although I am no expert). Different stand (prefer the other one TBH). All I could find in comparisons was this chart displayspecifications.com/en/…392
Ive got the 6703 brought it bf from richer sounds 6yr warranty for £395 brill tv
I too missed out on the 7303 on black Friday.... My toddler hadn't smashed our TV at that point!! Haha

I bought a like new 7303 yesterday from amazon warehouse. As it was £ 460 instead of £700 new
Va or Ips?
Doesn't say sadly

Nice! Does it come with the philips 2 year warranty?
I’ve got the 6703 and using it with Virgin V6 Box. Has anyone else had a high pitched persistent buzz when stop/starting pre-recorded programmes?
i can’t find anything about it online yet I’m on my 2nd one - returned the first (43 inch) after some telephone support and them sending me an update on a memory stick, no improvement and then tried again with 50inch. I think the noise is quieter but it’s still not acceptible!
Strange as I’m technically only using the Tv as a monitor aren’t I..?
any suggestions would be gratefully received!

This Just a suggestion If your using a TV amplifier signal boaster this can cause problems with Buzzing. You might want to buy an in line filter to knock this out....I had this problem once But it was due to the fact The Virgin Box was the cause of the sauce direct. They came out and fixed this problem. But was told that a Tv Amplifier can also cause this problem to. Might be wroth calling Virgin out to fix it if its the Virgin box.. You can test this by just plugging in the areal direct into the TV and testing this out. Just a thought to help outs

Thank you for replying!
I don’t have a booster and unfortunately don’t have an aerial to test! (But I think buzzing is only when start/stopping recordings, not when only changing channels.) Really appreciate you taking the time
Nice find

I don’t know. I will tell you tomorrow

Would be great if you can share your initial reactions - I am really interested in whether to go for this model or the 7503 - just difficult as there is hardly any info / reviews available apart from the displayspecifications website

Precisely what i was alluding to in my earlier post - very difficult to go back to 'normal' Tvs once you've had Ambilight. Genuinely don't think I'd consider a non-Ambilight TV now.

I bought 2 Sonys 2 years ago of the warehouse, a 55" and a 50" paid just under £1000 , what a bargain, when they came they was factory sealed brand new, tatty boxes tho,

Do they need to be mounted on a wall or would it still be ok on a stand in the conservatory for the ambilight to be of any use, cheers.
Good find, heat added. Great deal, I would purchase however would like to know if this tv uses a VA panel or IPS panel. I much prefer the VA!

Far more effective with an opaque background TBH, if you are talking glass then would only be effective at night and with the blinds closed. And don't need to be wall-mounted to be effective, just close to a wall. Lots of settings for the Ambilight to vary the intensity of the light being emitted etc...
Took me a while to find this out, but FYI: the Philips Smart TV OS doesn’t support Now TV. Unfortunately was a dealbreaker for me which is a huge shame as Ambilight is one hell of a selling point.
I bought the 43 inch and have problems with mine ..... any experts on here who could help before I take back and exchange ...
The sound automatically flips to headphone mode from TV speakers randomly on its own ....

Changing the sound setting on the V6 box from Dolby Digital to Dolby Digital to PCM stops the high pitched buzz screeching when selecting HD channels might be worth a try

Why not just buy a nowtv stick for £15
Is this tv android?
really curious on the total difference between this and the 6703. Also keen to know if the soundbar on this one is decent compared to 6703 built in speakers..

Why not just buy a nowtv stick for £15

I’ve got one, but the reason for buying a new set was to have all three streaming services we use in one place, running much quicker than our old Roku stick was managing.

Happily, Now TV runs significantly quicker on the Samsung set I’ve gone with over not just the Roku but the dedicated Now TV stick.

It is possible to reproduce Ambilight on any TV using a Raspberry Pi plugged into LED lights placed behind the TV. Search for "Lightberry".

I'm afraid I know little more than than that, but it sounds not for the technically faint of heart, possibly the impatient of issues, and it'll add a chunk onto the price of a TV. But it can be done.
