Got the 58" model of this exact TV and it's stunning. Blacks are excellent and colours pop.

Only thing I'd note is that you probably want to use Monitor or Gaming mode for reduced input lag, at least in my experience.

Black Friday should have large discounts this year due to predicted sales demand drop across all sectors (furlough scheme ends, redundancies, Brexit transition ends), so I am waiting until then.
rule 1 dont buy big purchases from currys

Sounds like a plan!

Wouldn't bet on it . People have had more money in their pockets due to lockdown and no summer holidays abroad so sales on TVs have been strong coupled with reduced production meaning retailers have been struggling to get the stock .Supply and demand with the latter being stronger .If this continues then black Friday mega deals will be unrealistic .

Very tempting! - Wondering if the sound will be good enough on it so I dont have to use a soundbar?
Good price have some heat buddy.
I had a email watch on this model due to it being out of stock. They emailed me a week ago to say that it wasn't going to be restocked "but here's some alternatives'. Shady.

what is the actual measures of the base?
Does anyone know if this version runs better than last year's PUS8004? I had the 50" one but sold it due to Android being extremely laggy, and it had motion problems (stuttering and jittering).

Can't find much about this one.

Why? Use a credit card for purchases above £100 and you will have credit card and retailer cover in case something happens.

It will certainly be some cases with some people - as some will definitely have more money in bank account.
As of 16 August there were 9.6m on furlough though and I wouldn’t bet them on average to spend a lot this upcoming Black Friday nor Christmas.

Just bought the 50 above but bit worried on the reviews ie iplayer sound not working etc and the sound quality in general

No issues with any apps bar Netflix crashing yesterday, had to force close the app.

The remote could have benefitted from some reactive LEDs but the white on grey is more white on dark grey and hasn't been an issue for me.
What can you actually control with Alexa on these?
Input lag score anyone? I really do like the ambilight setup though.
I have this TV in my games room. It's superb, I've always been a fan of the ambilight system (really creates a mood and has evolved well over the years). I haven't used the google assist on it (haven't bothered setting it up) and it's an amazing experience with a xbox one X (gears in 4k HDR is mind blowing)

However, I do have trouble with the iplayer on it sometimes. It seems to get stuck at the initial loading up process but I've found pulling the plug out and trying again fixes it. No such issue with netflix or disney+ though so I'm going to assume it's a problem at the BBC's end?

Sound wise it could be better but that's a standard problem with most TV's I've had over the years.

Anyhoo, heat added as this is slightly less than I paid.

Dont be.. they are not even comparable.. oled is king. Qled is marketing

Volume, channel, open Netflix, ambilight on and off. If you have another alexa dot or sonos playbar etc it will turn your tv on and off too as always listening

I have also used the phrase watch this on Netflix and it starts that movie etc - this was via a firestivk though, I have the android version so cannot comment on the inbuilt alexa functionality on saphi operating system
OLED burn in is extremely off putting for me, QLED full array until they fix that problem!
Anyone know if there is a model close to this that has a black bezel (not silver)

I genuinely hate it if I turn the ambilight off...

I have the 65" version - the ambilight affects the whole room and tracks the screen perfectly too.

There was a scene in game of thrones where they had a fire in the bottom corner of the scene.. the ambilight flickering in yellow and orange was awesome.

That just means it's end of line for them.

They're not getting any more, so they cant dispatch from the main warehouse, but some stores still have existing stock. Hence the sale.
Is 50" version a VA or IPS?

Im thinking of getting a Philips tv with Ambilight. Im not going to wall mount it straight away, im assuming ambilight is a bit pointless if its just on a stand near to the wall at an angle?

It must be flat against the wall. Mine is a 58" on a stand 20cm from wall with 3 sided ambilight and looks great. Only thing I would add if you were going to wall mount would be to go for 4 sided ambilight.

What lower end OLED were you considering? I thought OLED just too expensive, QLED not that good, so I brought an LG 49NANO866 for £699 John Lewis. Pleased with it.
