Why would anyone buy this over the A80J for similar price?
The ambilight gimmick soon wears off and is mostly redundant as almost all movies have black bars top and bottom which ruins the intended effect.

Ambilight doesn't wear off at all, I've been enjoying it for years.

I paid £899 for my Philips OLED 856 from Richer sounds. I don't think this is a tangible improvement especially considering its only 3 sided ambilight and the low end OLED model. I would probably wait for the 807 deals to come through.

Philips is made by TP Vision, a now exited JV with China. No longer the brand we once knew.

Stick to Sony or LG for quality OLED experiences and avoid the rest! (edited)

You haven't really given a good reason apart from "China" ?

It uses an LG panel, Ambilight is a USP

Superb deal. Philips also have superb motion handling, the fella in charge at TP Vision was highly sought after before they nabbed him.

No thanks…. My 2 year and 3 month old philips is already playing up…. Now trying to get some maney back with sale of goods act….. Shame as i love the ambilight, but picture quality nowhere near my other tv brands…. Which have lasted a lot longer as well

Interesting. Shame it's a 2 year warranty though.

24 months is their standard manufacturers warranty, odd retailers like Richer Sounds who offer their own warranties give you 6, but in most cases it is 2 years for Philips Tv's

Mmmm, this, or wait until the oled 807 drops? Thoughts?

Wish I had waited for this one now as the LG OLED I bought after reading all the reviews on here is no better than my old Samsung.
LG is crap in my opinion!

The screen in all oleds is the same (does improve every year). But different manufacturers all use the same one

This is 2 year warranty. Not sure I would risk that for a TV this expensive. Plus the 856 was cheaper at richer sounds before I think

    I'm after the 65"

+1 for ambilight..... My Philips TV is ancient, I think we bought it around 10 years ago (wife was pregnant with 9 year old at the time) it's only 2 sided Ambilight, but I wouldn't consider a non ambilight TV if/when this one finally gives up.

I've replaced a broken Ambilight TV with a normal TV with a normal light behind it. It was a stupid thing to do and I miss Ambilight most days.
