This TV is also £989 at Richer Sounds but only available in store... Great TV..

Philips’ OLED754 brings you a stunningly lifelike picture, thanks to 4K resolution on an OLED display, boosted by HDR, and powered by the brand's Picture Perfect Engine. Enjoy more immersive viewing and gaming with Ambilight technology, which emits matching light around the screen. Dolby Atmos sound is spaciously immersive, which, together with Dolby Vision, delivers a thrilling cinematic experience. The Android platform opens up a wealth of online content, and you can control it by voice with Alexa built in.

4K OLED Screen
Unlike regular LED screens, the Organic LED display doesn't have a backlight, meaning that each pixel is self-illuminating. Every speck of light controls its own luminescence for true depth and colour gradation. With 8 million of these pixels, this 4K OLED produces impeccably deep blacks, whiter whites, and scintillating colours. And all within a blur-free image that looks just as stunning from any angle.

HDR with HDR 10+ & Dolby Vision
HDR deepens your view and shows shades previously unseen in home entertainment. Expanding light, dark and every colour in between to extraordinary new levels, this model's picture gets closer to real life. This Philips TV supports multiple HDR formats including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

4K Ultra High Definition
This 55” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p Full HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.

Features:

Ambilight: Philips’s unique Ambilight technology makes your viewing more immersive, by casting on-screen colours onto the wall and into the room. Intelligent LEDs around the TV’s edge extend light beyond the screen, adding ambience and colour that matches what you’re watching.

P5 Perfect Picture Engine: Philips' picture engine with Perfect Natural Reality processing optimises everything you watch with state-of-the-art algorithm technology. It delivers stunningly lifelike depth and detail in highlights, shadow, colour, and smooth motion.

Dolby Atmos sound: Hear spacious sound with clarity, depth and detail thanks to three-dimensional Dolby Atmos audio.

Super-Smart Android Platform
Developed by Google, you'll be able to enjoy seamless entertainment, intelligent search and the latest apps from the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Youtube and BBC iPlayer. With the Google Play store and Philips app gallery, you can go beyond traditional TV, with a wealth of films, TV, apps and games, and they can be stored on 16GB of internal memory.* Please note: ITV Hub, All 4 and My 5 (catch-up services for ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5) are not built-in to this TV but are available via Google Chromecast.

Alexa built in
With Alexa built in, you can control the TV and find content and apps, all with just your voice. And command your compatible smart home devices ...from the comfort of the sofa.

Freeview HD
Get a huge variety of channel options - without any additional boxes or connections – with Freeview HD. The platform is a free-to-air digital service that comes already built into your TV. With free access to over 50 standard definition TV channels and 15 HD channels (including ITV HD, BBC One HD, BBC Two HD and 4 HD), there's no shortage of things to watch.

Perfect partners
With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller, choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Soundbars enhance your TV’s sound quality and add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either.
Take a look at our full range of soundbars.

Not the same thing though is it.

To answer your question, the reason would be for better motion handling and ambilight.

I have, had a cheap 4k with it and sent it back. I'll admit it was awesome when I first saw it but when watching a film in the dark it was just too intense and distracting. Just me though.

My main point for LG over Philips is the OS. Lightyears ahead.

Lots of deals get posted when the price is the same at other retailers.
The point you appear to be missing is JL offer this with a 5 year warranty where the others don’t.
So you need to factor in that additional cost when considering making a purchase.

Costco for example offer some cracking TV deals but you have to be a member in order to buy and also qualify for the warranty with the membership also valid in the event something goes wrong with the tv.

Hope this helps your understanding of when a deal stands out from the rest.

It was a 500 cheapo that I had so could have been old OS as it was pretty clunky and a really dated remote. Oled all the way though, love my B8.

Ive heard the philips uses an LG panel. Has ambilight but doesnt have HDMI 2.1 like the LG.

Can the philips do 120hz like the LG? Can it do variable refresh rate like the newer LG C9 and B9?
If the 804 was this price it might be deal-worthy

So what issues have you had with OLED? I thought the downside was you were better off with lcd if a gamer.

How so? I genuinely don't understand how anyone can think this?
Good selection of apps available - that support 4k / HDR / Dolby Vision, easy to use, good quick menu, fast to respond, typing is a doddle with the remote...
What do you dislike? I feel like I'm missing something here.

Well I will point out RS do 6 yr guaranteeso still not a deal!
Parfy30/12/2019 10:51

But what’s wrong with the LG one?

Nothing wrong with LG or Philips etc other than support and updates will stop more than likely after a couple of years like most tv os systems . Personally thinking of choosing this TV over the 804 to save a couple hundred quid

You can just use the buttons though and also adjust the positioning of the remote by ‘pushing’ it against the edge of the screen. I’m not trying to be obtuse I just find it interesting how something I perceive as being very well made is the opposite to someone else
Any decent reviews out there yet for this TV? Or if anyone has it whats there opinion on it

Thats exactly how I felt after I had unpacked my LG OLED (sighs).
OS, after coming from a Samsung was slow, less smooth. The every day watching of a tv, mainly in SD like you say, is just average. My KS9000 is far better at the everyday stuff, including better sound, I totally accept that the LG is much thinner and can hold less sound components. On the flip side, 4K sport and movies on the LG are sublime, but for the amount of 4K content available, the OLED is just not the every day TV for me either. So I kept the Samsung in the living room and the LG is for the bedroom!

Agree we just went for the LG B9 over this Phillips and we were mostly swayed by the OS and motion remote. LG has all the uk streaming services (eg all 4) included unlike Phillips and it has got Airplay support in an update. Can’t fault it.
