55 inch OLED 4K Ultra HD Premium Smart TV Freeview Play

6 Year guarantee

This is a newly released set from Philips. It is marketed as a ‘budget option’.

I believe that the panel is a 2018 LG OLED. The TV also has the same processor as last years 803.

Can’t find any reviews as of yet.

I am seriously considering this over the LG OLEDB9 or OLEDC9 due to the ambilight.

Wasn't the 2018 LG 55" OLED on here at around £900 not long ago?

Ah, it was a refurb

65" @ £1799...

So much choice now with OLEDS... This Philips or the 65" LG C9 @ Black Friday... Hopefully should be 2K or less....fingers crossed!

I know it's more but I still think the LG C9 is the TV to beat.
Having read multiple reviews and seeing them in person also.
The software on Philips is just a little lacking.

I'm holding off to see which brands or models of LG get the fabled Apple TV app as I'm not a big fan of Samsung.
This will be down to a out £800 after Xmas. I can wait.
Hopefully the E9 will drop 😁

Under £800? Do you really think so? I can’t imagine they will go so low.

Given superior LG 55 models will be under a grand in the next couple of months if Philips want to cash in on the obligatory massive black / cyber / boxing day sales then these should be a bit more under a grand. If not then I don't know what they think consumers are thinking.. good luck to em haha.. I'm sure they'll come to their senses before there's an LG or Samsung in every house.

Philips' intergrated electronics ecosystem may not be as slick as some other manufacturers but it's there, Philips are competing in that home integration game. Sometimes price cuts on buying fests are a win win, if they get more TVs in UK homes people will buy more of their overpriced stuff in their range to integrate electronically into the system over HDMI / Bluetooth / WiFi

We can only hope

PS
He didn't say under 800 he said "about" 800 ie: 800 give or take.. or even £8xx

I wouldn't bet good money against £899 or so personally, with some code or other, tcb or the inevitable cut then some eBay 20% thing. Price is inflated right now as is usual.

I'm clearly out the loop but this Ambi thing looks great!! Anyone tried and tested? Never thought I'd be interested in a Phillips but this OLED is selling it to me
Cold... not 8K lol.

I have a non OLED Ambilight tv and the Ambi is a game changer. The Philips OLEDS from last year were 5 star rated and use LG panels.

I agree, Ambilight is well worth having, not a gimmick. You do need the tv to be against a plain (single) coloured wall for best effect. Doesn't have to be a white wall as you can adjust the base colour and the tv reproduces on-screen colours appropriately.
I've got an older tv with only 2 sided ambilight and will eventually upgrade to 3 sided OLED.

Great TV if I had to go OLED its Philips or Panasonic
I’m hoping for the 65inch to hit the £1500 mark soon!

"If I had to go OLED" Does this mean you prefer non-OLED?!

Huh???
Not bad, but I'd choose the 804 over this, followed by the C9. This needs to be £1k to make it worthwhile considering how it's basically a 2018 set underneath.

Some people have kids like me, the main worry is screen burn from them playing their favourite game constantly. Given its culmunative it's something that might not appear for 2 years. If screen burn wasn't an issue or was covered under warranty and cost wasn't the issue, I can't imagine why anyone would choose an LCD display, Inc QLED.

Actually, during the 3 times my philips has failed and been sent off for repairs, i didn't notice the difference on my temporary replacement in the slightest.
