Not as future proofed as the LG & input lag isn't on par.
If your looking at buying now. Get lg.

If you can wait however get the new philips which will release with less lag. New features. Etc... And of course! The fantastic ambilight.

Thanks for replying. I was nearly tempted by the LG C9. I don’t think I can live without ambilight though. Will have to wait for the new models to come out.

They were showing them off a few months ago. Normally I'd say wouldn't be long however with the situation we're in I'm now not so sure.

Get the 8396. I paid 500 for grade A from Sony Centre. It's a dream. Gaming is perfect, even with laptop connected and emulating - no lag. 4k is awesome to.

It comes with one year warranty, and then I think it's 40, for 3 years and 80 for 5. Ask them, you can buy the extra warranty ANY TIME in your first year. And if the model isn't good or has lag ( this is the 87, mine is 83 - I'm not sure of the difference - I think they do 14 days refund. But ask. I'm happy with mine, but it's the 49 inch, I forgot to mention. It's the 4k X1 processor you want. A dedicated 4k chip.I don't think the 8096 had it. That's why I went with mine

Unfortunately there will never be a solution to burn in, its the nature of Oled in the way it degrades over time.

If you truly want to have this fixed then it's either LCD or the next step is Micro LED which quite frankly is insanely good.

Microled is essentially like Oled but doesn't degrade, can run each pixel much higher (far surpassing LCD brightness) and pixels switch on faster.

I know a place in UK is currently doing incredible work on microled to make it easier to make and vastly cheaper, its looking like its done finally and they have had Sony, Samsung and LG hunting it as its the best design thus far.

Microled won't be a reasonable option for around 4 - 5 more years I think so you will be waiting awhile. I'm getting an OLED shortly as its peaked and finally got 120hz BFI for motion improvement, I will then pick up a reasonable micro led later down the line

Samsung 80R 55inch for £764. Its better than the 2020 model which is double the price. You need unidays or a blue light card to get 15% off the marked price to get this price mind

Thank you. Was looking at that but not a huge fan of the silver bezels. How about the Q70r? Can get it with 3 years warranty for around £850...
What's the reason for the big hype over the B9 or C9 compared to this? Is it purely HDMI 2.1 or is the picture also better?

Q80R is a big step up from Q70R and its nearly £100 cheaper so dont think thats good value to be honest. If you are willing to pay £850 you are so close to LG Oled type money which is what I purchased yesterday for £924. Also the silver bezel is so small will you really notice?

C9 is brighter, and has newer processor which helps with upscaling non 4kb content

Initially LG said B9 didn't support HDMI 2.1 as it had a slower processor, but then later confirmed it did to HDTVreviews. Still not advertised as such so waiting on PS5 to test it

Blue light have 20% at the moment so it's £719.20 plus topcashback should track. The Q80R is very good sub £700

Cheers. I’m actually now considering the q90r as I am willing to spend a bit more.

Question about the blue light discount, am I eligible as a teacher?
No but Samsung have a scheme for students, teachers and educators which has the same discount running at the moment
