I read that in a recent post on here too; that's totally put me off buying this TV, more annoyingly I've been waiting for a deal on this model for ages but no catch up or proper Android no buy.

I wonder if thats the same for the 8000 range?

John, that's a Samsung TV in your photo!
Iplayer has stopped working on many Philips Tvs and no one will take responsibility
IPlayer works fine on mine, plus if you’ve got a Now Tv stick or Console then it’s not a problem as all the catch up apps are on there. Ambilight is brilliant.
I'm yet to use a TV that doesn't have slow smart features that quickly become obsolete. I bought a fire stick for that reason and don't use the inbuilt rubbish.
“Please note ITV Hub, ALL4 and Demand 5 UK catch-up apps are not directly available”

Complete madness. I would have probably have gone for this too
You can download the apps easy so it's wrong info. I have this TV. It is full android so you can download whatever you want even from the browser and unknown sources

Its Android TV, so it's not standard Android apps, they've gotta be compatible with a remote etc. ITV Hub is now out and available, as is my5 (both on my Shield TV). All 4 still isn't, as they don't make their app compatible (they do on Fire TV which is also Android but oh well).
I’ve recently bought the 65” (arrives on Saturday) and I was initially worried about the apps. My research suggested updating to Oreo fixed this and knowing amazon this could be old info. Also, I have an Xbox one x and sky so worst case scenario I’m using those
I want it, bit have too many TVs already. Need to sell at least 2 TVs of I am gonna buy another.

Seconded re:using a console. I used Netflix via my Sony Bravia as there was a dedicated button on the remote... Only once I fired up the PS4 did I realise how sluggish the Sony TV app was.

I've not looked but I'm sure a basic PS4 can be had for cheap plus you've got a Blu-ray player then too.
Does anyone know if this tv has a satellite tuner? Freesat possible?

I have this TV and yes, Freesat is built in with a Sat connection.

However ...

Dont do it! Run away! Talk about buyers regret. The EPG, whether you take it from tbe broadcaste or online is abysmal. Its slow, difficult to use, is hard to select favourite channels to remove the 1000s of encrpyted ones you can't watch. Refuses to display whats on later that day. Shows the channels but not whats on now until you have actually selected that channel. Watching You Tube or Netflix on this TV is a joy but as for watching noramla TV via Freesat its a huge PITA.

Gonna drop the bloody thing when I move home and get an LG or Samsung!

I don't watch the BBC, don't support their BS licensing scam or fund pedophiles so I'm not that bothered about that app.

Buy a smart TV, pay for certain features only to not use them, instead use another bit of clutter instead.

Not a problem if you’ve already got it and your upgrading from a non smart tv. Plus this tv has chromecast built in so just cast these apps off your tab or phone. No extra clutter or expense.
No good to the other half who just wants to point and click, like she does to me all the time.
