Had to check if it was £29.99
These things are good.

Try and get one with a built in ioniser. The air in your home will feel much crisper, like the air up in the mountains.
Sharp did an excellent range of purifiers with built in ioniser & humidifier sharpusa.com/For…spx

Don't know if they are still available in the UK.
The amount of cack they pull out of the air is staggering.

You must be doing something foul in there. I have the model up from this one, which was on for a month, running continuously with barely any cack whatsoever.

as long as the ioniser doesn't create ozone

"An ioniser works on the principle that negatively charged ions cling to allergens and dust, which are positively charged particles. ... Some air purifiers, particularly those containing ion generators, can emit a small amount of ozone as a by-product."

imho this is a good model at a decent price. I bought one model down from this for 230 (no app integration AC3256/60) and have been fairly pleased

Whatever ozone it makes is only as bad as the WiFi and 5G Stuff

Nno - as a biologist I have to tell you that ozone is actually harmful to the physical health of your lungs

Whereas wifi and 5g are forms of non-ionising radiation (like FM radio waves) that only affect people who have a mental health issue that they believe is 'electrosensitivity'. I'm not making fun of it, I'm merely pointing out that there is no science to back up that it is 'real' (except in that person's mind)

Continual building works nextdoor, below, above, plus old sash windows was why every month or so you'd tip out a thin black/grey cake of dust.

From Sharp's sales blurb:

Plasmacluster® ion technology is sometimes mistaken as the same technology found in an ionizer, a type of air purifier frequently found in the marketplace today. Ionizers add a negative charge to airborne particles, which makes them stick to furniture, walls and floors. Only Plasmacluster® ion technology is proven to effectively kill germs, bacteria, viruses, mold and odors.
Would a dehumidifier, that has an air purifier setting built in with a Hepa filter do the same and more for much less cost? Such as a Meaco?

Pretty much. Just the room size you need to consider plus the Meaco would be drying out your air. In the summer, not such a great thing.

yes, it would do similar thing - the cheapest option for air purifier is to stick a HEPA filter to a fan. If you want odour filtering add active carbon filter on top. What you're getting with Philips is the fan speed controlled based on air quality sensor, aesthetic cover and app integration.
Less often dusting required around the house if you get a decent HEPA filter/purifier.
Bought one of these recently for over £400. Very reassuring to see the blue light come on showing air quality is good. However app integration is very poor. Still have not got mine to pair with my phone.
Link now says £479... No idea where this price came from.
