Enjoy incredible clarity in everything you see with the Philips 50PUS8204/12 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV. With HDR and a resolution four times better than Full HD, you'll get bright colours and sharper images.

It'll upscale your older shows and movies too, letting you rediscover your favourites as you've never seen them before.

Be immersed with Ambilight

From movies to games, get more immersed in your content with Philips Ambilight. Intelligent LEDs around the edges of the TV panel cast the colours on your screen onto the wall behind it and into your room, creating a stunning effect that will make your screen feel bigger and give every show a tailored, real-time light show.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

With Dolby Vision technology, every scene is enhanced for a brilliantly vivid image. Finer details are deeper, skin tones look more natural, and motion appears perfectly smooth - ideal for fast paced sports and movies.

Dolby Atmos gives your audio a boost too, for a full sensory experience that captures all the original richness of your content. Everything will look and sound more real than ever.

Convenience at your fingertips

Say goodbye to endless scrolling and use your voice to control your TV. With the in-built Google Assistant, whether you search for a movie on Netflix or find an app in the Play Store, all you need to do is ask. You can even control other Google Assistant compatible devices around your home, like smart light bulbs or the thermostat without even needing to get up.

Looks a very good given most 55” ambilight in the 7 series are sold out and this is higher spec
Was waiting for the 7334 to go to around 400 , now this complicates things. Does this model justify the extra £100?
Is it IPS or VA panel? It’s hard to find any information about it. I’ve read they use VA for smaller units and IPS for bigger even within the same model (I’ve read that about 6700 series).Don’t know if it’s true or not.
Anybody could clarify that?
Thanks

I’ve seen that before but I was checking this model with 55” screen and there’s no info about panel type. Checked again for 50” and you’re right, it’s VA.
Why there’s no panel info for 55”? Is it still VA or IPS already? Currys got 55” version as well and I’m interested more into that but don’t want IPS.
Still confused...

So the 8204 has 1900PPI 7334's 1700PPI, a keyboard on the remote, 3Gb vs 2 Gb RAM, and 16Gb vs 8Gb storage
Is this a 2019 model?

feeling the same, don't want to miss out on another tv after the 7334 i was going to get sold out.. decisions!!
Pointless getting the android versions... they add stupid prices to them and a firestick has better hardware...
I looked on the Philips website and compared this to the 50 inch 7334 and the only difference apart from stand dimensions is it says this TV had a wide colour gamut, everything else looks the same. This is the kind of TV in thinking of getting but not sure it's worth an extra £50 over the 7334?

I'm going to hold out due to the stand, I need something that swivels and this one looks a bit bulky. Also I checked online for reviews, there are none and I checked Pricespy and it says it was only released at the end of October so for them reasons I'm going to hold out!
Ordered to 55pus7334 for £499, but cancelled when I realised it had an IPS display. Was considering just getting the 50" for £449 but plumped for this one. Internals should be the same pretty much aside from a little more ram, and this one has support for wide colour gamut. I know there are better displays for the money, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for the Ambilight.

Sorry perhaps dumb question here but how can you tell whether its an IPS or VA display and what are the differences?
Can someone please tell me if this tv is the best buy for a max budget £500

You seem very technical, do you know if I can change the Google assistant to Alexa instead as I use the Alexa in my home. Thanks
Not sure if this is such a good deal now, the 50 inch 7734 model is now £419 so you are paying £80 more for wide colour gamut, 1gb extra ram and 8gb extra storage. I guess it depends what you plan to do with the TV. For me it's just connected to sky but if you use the Android TV side more it may be worth it.
Where is the 50pus7334 for sale at £419? The only one I can see for that price is the 43" version.

Im after a TV for the man cave and something my son can eventually game on. I've an Oled C8 as main tv so just after something cheap.

There's a few differences but the main ones are that IPS usually has better viewing angles and may be better in sunlight. VA generally has better contrast and deeper blacks, especially if watching movies in the dark.

Anybody got this is it any good? I'm after an Ambilight either this or the 7334 but apart from this none have been reduced much. The reduction on this seems a bit fake too seeing as only Curry's sell it and it was only that price for a couple of weeks.

Yes image quality is good, very pleased with it as I watched sky sports in UHD, 4k video on you tube and briefly Irishman on Netflix.
Hard for me to compare to another 4k tv but as previously stated I was looking to get an oled or qled for the main room but this TV is good enough to get another one. Colours are vibrant and even though the ambilight is gimmicky does give a nice mood. I hope this helps.
50pus8204 couldn't be happier!

I've an LG C8 OLED as my main tv and the picture is fantastic coming from a pioneer kuro. Seems this Philips TV should be good enough for a second TV so I'll update when I get one.
