2 Year warranty is not long enough, especially for a Philips TV.

Funny how Costco, John Lewis and richer sounds seem happy enough to sell them with their standard 5 or 6 year warranties, isn't it?

This is Currys. 2 year warranty applies.

I know and I think you've sort of missed the point I was making by miles. Have another go.

Amblight you either love or you don't. Personally, I think it adds to the experience and we'll worth the money. I'd watch a video or two. If you don't like it, don't get this set. As for the TV, I've been impressed by the quality of my TV, though I do have a slightly different model.

Personal experience or is this common knowledge as I have never heard anything like this?
Parents' Philips TV had backlight issues on one corner within a month, had a replacement panel installed and now has ghosting issues.

It's a good TV but I've definitely had better experiences with Sony and LG

Have had multiple issues with my philips set.Repair company told me most of their business is dealing with Philips repairs /issues.
If you buy from RS at least you have a 6 year warranty unlike basic 2 years here but check small print to see if they provide you with a loan set if/when away at repair as my issues could not be fixed on site.

The panels themselves on even the top Philips LCD sets aren't great, eg 8 bit FRC, 60hz, edge lit, low peak brightness, HDR in name only but people buy them for the ambilight, which imo makes more of a difference than HDR.

Get the soon to be released Philips OLED 804/854 if you want the best of both worlds. I plan on getting it along with accidental damage cover. Figured if it gets screen burn I'll just 'accidently' put my size 10 through it.
"Saphi Smart" .... ? Mr Phillips smart telly is Android - Saphi any good?
Noting that I've added my telly to my Google home so unsure if Saphi allows the same.
Also don't forget you can add your Phillips smart lights to the telly too! That is totally awesome. Extend the ambi light experience to your front room lamps

That's what's put me off I want an android TV. Also I watch most of my TV through Plex and am pretty sure like the earlier model my family has this won't have plex. For that reason I will wait hopefully by black Friday be a deal on Phillips ambilight ideally for 65 inch with android.

We are still rocking with a 52" Philips Ambilight that is about 10 years old (cost £2k back in the day!).

Only problem it ever had was at new with the sound, fixed by applying an update.

This deal is worth it but it's much better to play £20 more and get it from Richer Sounds with the 6 year guarantee
Heat. Ordered it as it was meant to go on the wall of my new house...but i'm not so sure thats a good idea because it would have to be high due to a fire mantlepiece so my question is? What will the ambilight be like in a corner? Or is just going to be a pointless feature?

Utter tripe! I've had mine for over 10 years without a fault (21:9, 56" ambilight)
I hate this tv compared to my old Samsung. It's cheap for a reason picture quality is crap.
Love my ambilight!
Bought the 50", 2 months later had to get a new screen as there was a vertical green light down the screen, pretty unfortunate considering I had a samsung tv for 6 years without a hitch , by the way Phillips customer services are terrible, don't understand English and cut you off , pity still like the tv itself.
