Great detail

Enjoy incredible clarity in everything you see with the Philips 65PUS8204 65" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV. With HDR and a resolution four times better than Full HD, you'll get bright colours and sharper images.

It'll upscale your older shows and movies too, letting you rediscover your favourites as you've never seen them before.

Be immersed with Ambilight
From movies to games, get more immersed in your content with Philips Ambilight. Intelligent LEDs around the edges of the TV panel cast the colours on your screen onto the wall behind it and into your room, creating a stunning effect that will make your screen feel bigger and give every show a tailored, real-time light show.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos
With Dolby Vision technology, every scene is enhanced for a brilliantly vivid image. Finer details are deeper, skin tones look more natural, and motion appears perfectly smooth - ideal for fast paced sports and movies.

Dolby Atmos gives your audio a boost too, for a full sensory experience that captures all the original richness of your content. Everything will look and sound more real than ever.

Convenience at your fingertips
Say goodbye to endless scrolling and use your voice to control your TV. With the in-built Google Assistant, whether you search for a movie on Netflix or find an app in the Play Store, all you need to do is ask. You can even control other Google Assistant compatible devices around your home, like smart light bulbs or the thermostat without even needing to get up.

With the Google Play store and the Philips App Gallery, there's loads of content for you to explore. Get movies, boxsets, music, apps, games, and more all directly to your TV – there's something to keep everyone happy.

Sounds about right for Currys. This is the very reason I only buy TV\AV kit from RicherSounds

I got a mixed service. Bought this TV from their website as a bundle with a TV mount. Little did they know their TV mount doesn’t fit with the TV (due to the shape of the bottom of the TV) was on the phone waiting for CS for 1hr 20mins. But when I finally got through they were very helpful and organised DPD to collect it from my home.

Brilliant TV though.

Would be awesome if RS sold this model, however Currys are the only UK retailer who stock/sell this model.
I guess the customer service experience can vary - personally I have never had any issues with Currys and they have been superb, even when things have gone wrong.

Wow, that does look good. Hows the OS on it?
Does this tv work with iptv?

It runs Android - which on this set should be smooth as it is the Series 8 model so will be more efficient than the models before it.

Would assume so as it will have Google Services running off the Android OS.
Any links for the 50inch?
I've got two models im debating at the mo, LG 55 Sm8050 from RS/JL, or 55 of this model from currys.....
merb078630/06/2020 22:42

Not available I'm afraid.

I take it as 50 is more popular.
I've been on their site and it showed as in stock for delivery but when I input the post code computer says no.

Yeah and the price point of £399 is certainly more appealing for anyone interested in that size/model.

Wow HDR10+ and DV, i was looking for good OLED deals but they keep coming up at 55 or 58 inch, i wanted 65 inch. Now this looks very tempting!

Yep. I worked there for 3 years and they just didn't care about the customers.

Also knew a few people who would use a manager's Auth code to give a customer free care plan for 3 months so the customer would have forgotten about it by the time it starts coming out of their bank account.

Keep in mind that even if a TV supports HDR, even DV, what matters most visually is the contrast and peak brightness. Some cheap sets support DV but a peak brightness of 300 nits which is ridiculous when ideally you want closer to 1000 nits or even higher.

Even more important than the peak brightness is the lack of any local dimming functionality at all on TVs like this, which is a baseline requirement to display HDR. It's quite literally impossible to produce specular highlights without it.

Indeed. Many TV's that claim HDR are really terrible with it.

Isn't Micro Dimming Pro, which this TV has, the Philips name for local dimming?
Great price.
I still have my 2016 Philips 55" model with Ambilight and its been brilliant so not looking for another set until this packs in.
As its Android, I've installed Kodi directly to watch movies and live football rather than use a Firestick or another Android box.

Just been looking in to this and apparently not. It just adjusts the contrast over various zones of the screen instead to try and give the same effect as local dimming. Rtings website says to avoid using a feature like that as it overrides any contrast settings etc you may set up.

Is this tv as good as Hisense 65u7b?
can't find any reviews on this model
Wish it was the 55" version

Neither are great certainly for HDR content.

The finish of the hisense might be better, but the OS and ambilight might be worthy over the hisense.
In terms of brightness, when you launch the Rakuten store on this TV the splash screen is a white screen with the red logo in the middle. The white is so bright it hurts my eyes.

Ambilight is amazing on this, lights the whole room up so vividly at night

I have not had any issues yet. But I generally use the fire stick
Does this model only come with the silver bezel?

Would much rather black
