Same question. Will this give me a better shave than my Gilette?

It gets good reviews on Which. I managed to get one for hubby for £33.31 on the Amazon Black Friday Deal, but anything under £49.99 is good as that's where they've been at all the retailers until a week or so ago. Hubby had the wet & dry phillips shaver from about 8 years ago and it's only just getting to the stage of needing replacing.

Why is this hot when its £5 cheaper at Comet? I don't understand.

Happens to most deals posted. Some members will just vote anything they are not interested in cold. Fortunately, if its a good deal then the idiot votes are soon outweighed by the hot votes.......

Phillips or Braun? This would be my first electric shaver purchase.

Wouldn't it be better to buy the braun 340s for a few pounds more?

It will save you money in the long run, since the replacement heads are cheaper than Philips

Probably because I posted this first? The other deal obviously went hotter than this one sooner because it was a much better deal. If you're going to be a smart **** make sure you're right first.:p

Hi
Excellent offer, i have reserved and collected mine and took the one i bought for £49.99 from boots back
Thank you

I have a HQ6900. How is this better?Thx

I went from an older 6990 to a 6970, neither of which were great.

To me this one seems a much closer shave, and it can be used wet or dry.

What an awesome shaver, just purchased, charged, and used it. It really has just given the best electric shave I've had, better than my £100 Philips RQ1180! For this price it's a bargain! Marvellous!

Got mine now for 33.90 at amazon was surprise as I was tempted to buy it nearly lucky I bought it for 33.90

Damn. Don't say that, I just bought an RQ1180, which cost a lot more than this! Is it honestly true that this gives a better shave?

Yeah definitely, I got the RQ1180 and after a shave (even with new foils), you can still just about feel the stubble. With the new shaver I cannot feel stubble at all. It's like I had a wet shave, I cant believe how much they charge for the RQ1180. Also the another annoying thing about the RQ1180 is when you put it in your bag to take on holiday/away the lid will almost always come off and if you haven't emptied it and rinsed it you can understand how messy it can get. This one comes with a decent lid and a pouch that makes it just about impossible to open up by accident in your bag.

Oh well, too late now to send it back. I read in some Amazon reviews that the RQ1180 gives a much better/far closer shave if you use shaving foam/gel than without. Just have to keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for answering.

In any event its going to be a big improvement on the 5 year old Philips I've got at the moment that needs new heads & cutters and takes at least 5-6 minutes just to give me even a mediocre shave!

Edited by: "andyken" 4th Dec 2011

one bad thing about it is that its don't shave while charging, but then all is good.

Philips all the way - I've a Philishave 2830 which was bought to me as a present 17 years ago! - it has just given up the ghost, I used it occasionally, alongside normal blades, but amazing it's last until now.
