Thanks. Just ordered for my mum's xmas pressie, now I can keep the DVD 1080 upscaler with USB player for the bedroom.

Went through Quidco at 8% bringing the price down to a possible £52.44, if it actually goes through;

"Cashback is no longer paid on the following sales: Gifts, Babyshop, Electrical, Furniture, Homeware, Motor, DIY, Sports and Leisure, Toys "

Cashback tracked, but expected amount is zilch.

Got one of these a few weeks back. Great player for the money but does anyone know if it can be made multi-region??

Any idea if this can run BBC iplayer? Bit scarce on the interactive information.

Ye, it states that it can take a month for it to show expected cashback. It says that for groceries but if it goes through I would also assume it would be the same for everything else.

Got the text to say they were back in stock but noticed the deliver to store option wasn't available. Rang up and they sent me a code for £6 off (even though delivery is only 4.95!)

Score!

Apparently it can be using:

1)Make sure no disc is in the tray
2)Press 'home' key on the remote
3)Press '1389310' on the number keys on the remote.
Done!

To check press '8520' to list information including region (should be 0 for multiregion).

I have one but have not tried th above yet

Fair enough though, it's a great deal and he's broken no rules - well worth a repost imho.

Does work.

I hacked my Brothers BDP2700 with this a few weeks ago. It is only multi-region for the DVD though.

ordered many thanks :0)

What does this mean? it does play .mkv's?

Does it play normal DVDs please or just Blu ray?

fiddlesticks, ordered the Toshiba one from Dixons last night as a prezzie!

It is sold as a blu-ray player predominately but it is also an upscaling DVD player. The DVD part of it can also be made multiregion.

It doesn't come with an HDMI cable but I've been buying these from Amazon. If it is a bit close to Christmas to have a cable delivered and you need to buy one from a shop I wouldn't pay much more than a fiver because as long as it isn't falling apart cheap cables work just as well as fancy ones.

thank you ordered for pressie as couldn't get it when the offer was on a few weeks ago so thank you for the re-post...
Merry xmas all

I bought this 4 weeks ago and luckily picked one up at asda.

My verdict after loads of use:
Slightly slow and a slightly loud when loading BUT as a blu ray player, upscaler, and div x player I am extremely happy. Got loads of bargain blu rays already. If u want something better spend more money simple! This is HOT and happy with purchase!

Toshiba's nice but I couldn't make mine region free hence this buy of this one as Philips can usually be made region free. Can't you cancel the Toshiba & order this instead. Saying that I'm still waiting for Monopoly streets on Wii ordered on 7th Dec from Asda & order showing as processing still as they apparently are trying to find stock.
Hope these turn up for xmas in time.

Maybe its just me but I really feel this is a ridiculous question.

You would be surprised.

With the explosion in the number of people buying HDTV's you now have some people with little to no technical knowledge having to set-up fairly complex AV equipment. Words like HDMI and Blu-Ray may as well be in dutch for them.

May try, no option on the Dixons website which means I will have to endure Dixons shoddy cs on the phone though.

Any ideas if there's a firmware update for this?

Does this make toast? (_;)

The code isn't one that can be re-used, it was an "e voucher" you use it at the payment screen not in the promo code section. I posted that so others could maybe phone and ask the same thing. As soon as I said the deliver to store wasn't available she told me why and immediately offered me the voucher to knock off the delivery charge

currently out of stock arrghh! Did someone say they have had this deal for a while? Definately need a Blu-ray player with USB..its the only way!

gtwill

Maybe its just me but I really feel this is a ridiculous question.

I'm sure there's lots of people with no idea on these things. They have a minimal interest as long as it works. My dad wouldn't even know how to work the volume button on the remote control....... though he is 84 with Alzheimers. Answer is it will play standard DVD's.

I hear what both of you saying in regards to not knowing about whether it plays DVD's.
Having said that, I made two posts before the question that was asked, and both post's mention that it plays DVD's.

Anyway, I'm glad I got this deal. I just hope it delivers before xmas. Especially with the never ending snowfall outside.

out of stock

Very disappointed with this blu ray player. Bought one when the deal was posted a few weeks ago.
Ive got over a terabyte of 720p / 1080p avi's, mkv's, 2 channel mp4's, and mp4's with dual audio tracks (ie the 2 channel audio track along with the 5:1 track), m4v's etc.
Playback was very hit and miss, and compared to the £49 Limit blu ray player HMV had last xmas, was terrible. Every single file the Philips couldnt play would play without issue on the Limit player, so back it went.
Good price for a blu ray player, but if your have a large collection of files like mine on portable hard drives, look elsewhere.
Not voted hot or cold as as a blu ray player, its fine.
