Just been in my Local asda and they had loads of these on the shelves. Also available online with postage. This seems a good price to me for Freeview HD, if your TV doesn't come with it.

There is a firmware upgrade, but unsure as to whether it'll allow you to add and external HDD to record, as per the recently listed Humax one.

Fine unit for the price. Posted on hotukdeals about a month ago for £50.
A good choice for a basic FreeviewHD receiver. Firmware update to 7.19 recommended as hotfinder mentions.
Other units like the I-Can Easy HD can offer BBC iPlayer and IceCrypt/Humax external HDD recording but they're either getting thin on the ground (I-Can) or are almost twice the price.
All depends what you're after I suppose...

Same old thing with the now infamous Philips brand. Release something which was not been tested and is full of bugs and clearly doesn't work then release firmware to iron out some of the bugs. Have the they ironed out the freezing problem which i had with 3 of these boxes before giving up and buying a Humax.? doubt it Same thing happened a few years ago when i bough a Philips dvd recorder, loads of problems then a limited bug fix firmware update ,then product discontinued.Very weird philosophy Philips have these days. Say no more. How have the mighty fallen and why do they keep releasing bug ridden audio visual equipment.Shame they used to be such a good quality company.

Didn't Pace buy the Philips set top box division so this is techincally designed by Pace? (who usually make some decent products!)

Yes, it has a Pace sticker on the top.
This unit, like a few rushed out last Summer for the world cup is ok hardware but poor firmware out of the box. It's taken a while for most of them to get decent firmware.
