Just popped to my local John Lewis to find that all Philips energy saving light bulbs are 49p each.

A well-known brand at a good price!
A brief search shows that this is a good deal cheaper than other places.

If you want to buy in bulk, you can buy a pack of 10 online for £4.90

good price - i paid this at a car boot sale last year!

similar offer at morissons.the same philips bulbs for 99p (buy one get one free)

Netto's have had the 100W & 60W BC versions for 47/49p for some time now and Morrissons often have them at 99p with BOGOF. However never seen the ES versions this cheap before.

Remember to use Quidco for another 8% off.

brought it couple of days ago, quick delivery and great savings

oh phoo forgot quidco again.....................

That is damn cheap! Luckily though I work for a Housing Assoc and already have access to 2400 of these for free! One thing's for sure...I wont be paying for bulbs for the next few years!!!

just bought it online, £4.90 is a steal
doh, forgot quidco.

Nice find, many thanks.

I got a couple of SAD daylight 150w (30w) ES bulbs from eBay. More expensive, but i'm sick of sitting in a dull yellow room in the evening. White light rules.
This is a good price for these though. Very good.

These are the same bulbs I got from Asda for 49p last year. Wouldnt get any less than 18w (100w) tho as they are too dim.

I highly recommend these bulbs. Have had others in the past and the wife complained they were dim.

The 100w ones are really bright, even the wife has conceeded they are better than normal bulbs, and save us money as well.

Agree 100w Phillips are fine, but have used 75w and 60w Phillips version and find them far too dim.

Now sold out of BC, only ES types left.

I got standard ones in sainsburys for 2p each

I was sent 6 of the same ones free by Scottish Power after Warmfront had visited my home to see if I was eligable for a grant towards double glazing. Turns out they're not putting grants towards new windows yet, just draft proofing them :(... still, I got my free bulbs

...and they cost you £30 more per year to run.

Stated on JL but "Note Not suitable for dimming", I got some and used them with a dimmer and they just kept blowing!

So make sure you don't!

As more people are buying these compact fluorescents now they seem to be coming out with lots of different designs and light emissions.

I have found that Blackspur compacts give out a nice daylight white no matter which wattage they are - obviously you still have to buy the right wattage for the room requirement. I now use these in spaces where a nice bright white light is required (office, kitchen, etc.) and the other types which are 'warm' light for spaces such as sitting room, bedrooms etc.

Just mentioning this in case people aren't aware that you can get the different light output types now.

For Blackspur the following isn't a bad site but unfortunately they're not as cheap as the supermarkets and there is delivery to pay -
