:viking: mad price great price

Does everyone now vote cold round here ?

Unless there is somewhere you can get 4 of these bulbs cheaper

voted hot.

voted hot because its the best price I've seen and that includes other people posting on this site.

Maybe everybody votes cold because these give you migraines at best or cancer at worst according to reports... :whistling:

Voted hot (however my local morrisons NEVER has any offers stated on here (I think its my morrisons tho)

I have seen the 4 for a £1 deal in Robert Dyas as well. I picked some up in the Swindon store. It looked like a national promotion

for 18watt bulbs this is a very good deal.

And so it was thus that they voted the world into a new ice age...

Remember, although these lamps are "low-energy" thats really where they stop being green! The different materials that go to make these are extremely hard to separate and recycle, moreso than a conventional lamp.

Anyway you get a nasty cold green hue from fluorescent lighting unless it's daylight balanced!

Which fitting are these?
Spiral or BC or Small Spiral?

Very good price, I bought six but discovered I had picked screw-in type and not bayonet. Look carefully at each box. They was all mixed up!

Excellemt deal.

I am a little confused with the life they claim on these things - as I have been buying them since 1993 for three houses I rent out - and they have never managed near the 8000 hours they claim.

I am about to start trying LED ones which use 40-50% the power of the low energy ones - but cost about thirty quid a time - but claim a 100 000 hour life.

I thought it was global warming ... :whistling:

The life they claim is if you turn them on once & leave them on, it's igniting them that shortens the life every time they turn on. I believe the light output from the LED ones is still apalling even compared to fluorescent.

Could be either...
It depends on what the latest trend or craze is

Yes, that was rather puzzling. My point was that people vote these bulbs cold citing environmental and health concerns but vote hot to all sorts of crud like skittles, alcohol and computers (nobody seems overly paranoid about all the deadly stuff in those - too much fun?). If everybody reacted equally everything on here would be voted cold. Hence 'ice age'. The 'world' was the world of hotukdeals.

The evidence for warming is pretty irrefutable, I wasn't suggesting we were heading for a chill (on average!).

This is a good deal but there seems to have been so many places where you could get them free lately - eg The Sun, British Gas, Scottish power and werent some B&Q'sexchanging old style b ulbs for these free of charge?

not in my local

None at my local (Derby Meteor Centre) branch - they still have loads of the previous offer of the 8W ones at 4 for £1, even though the shelf label says "Offer Expires 3rd Feb"

They contain MERCURY - a neurotoxin. You can not recycle them. Depressing light. Not really green in my book.

I contain mercury.

these are screw cap ones aren't they?

anyone know where i can get a cheap bayonet version?

Take the wrong bulbs back (with your receipt) and they will give you a credit note, exchange or refund.

Loads on the shelves at Morrisons (Gibralter)....still 4 for a pound............only problem is......all bayonet cap...............the standard for spain is edison screw................i bough plenty in Morrisons in dagenham......where i could choose either...es or bayonet.........but i would really like to find small edison screw at these cheap prices....................
