5* hi-res headphones at an unbelievable price. I own a pair (Gibson model) and can confirm these are the best headphones for under £250.

High-resolution audio offers the best in audio performance, reproducing original studio master recordings more faithfully than 16 bit/44.1 kHz CD formats. This uncompromising quality makes high-resolution audio the best sound companion for the music lover. Fidelio headphones meet the stringent standards required for the Hi-Res Audio stamp of quality. Whether you are enjoying your Hi-Res collection or a more traditional music source, the smooth extended high frequencies of the Fidelio headphone range help you get more from your music.

Each speaker is carefully handpicked, tuned and tested, and is paired for the most detailed natural sound. The 50-mm drivers utilise high-power neodymium magnets to reproduce all your music's dynamics and deliver well-balanced crisp bass, transparent mid-range and pristine high frequencies.

best headphones ever owned, better than HD650s they are a great all rounder for games, music & films
Good price. Just a pity I've got low resolution ears.

cause it's Amazon if you don't like them but that wont happen. feel free to drop me any questions
are these better than the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X (currently £125) for studio monitoring work?

These are being compared with HD600/650 which are a different league. You may need a dedicated amp though...
I have a pair of HD600 and sometimes think they are a bit too flat for my taste so the X2s may be worth a try. Anyone who had experience with both?
Seem to be getting slated now since Gibson started manufacturing them. One reviewer wrote that if they mention Gibson under the barcode send them back for a refund.

The early Gibson models had some QC issues. This has been resolved for months. I have a pair of Gibson made X2's and they are unbelievable and build quality is great.

no amp required, they are only 30ohms. an amp will improve quality of SUVs fur music, though, no doubt.
hi res audio is marketing fluff. Test it for yourself if you're unsure, you can't pick it out in a blind test with any measure of reliability. And there is no specifaction on headphones that make one pair 'worthy' and another not. I'm not bashing these headphones btw, I've not heard them, just the mention of hi res audio being meaningful is untrue. I didn't just read that somewhere, I'm huge fan of high-end headphones, DACs and headphone amps etc.
I just ran this past Flubit and they came back with an offer of £156. Heat added.
Tempting. Might order to try them out and compare to my X1. Love the X1. Doubt this will be a significant improvement.

Can't believe Flubit is still in operation. Didn't Barclays acquire them and then dump them once they realised how poor they were?
Will I notice a big difference with these and the HD598s?

Marketing Man loves a number because he knows he can sell anything if his number is bigger than someone else's.....it's the same with loads of stuff - this phone has a 2k Screen so it must be better than one with only 1080P - this PC runs at 4GHz so it must be faster than one that runs at 3.4Ghz. And so on and so forth.

I've not heard these cans - but being a sad old git I do own 6 or 7 pairs and have been through rather many more in testing. I struggle to equate Philips with high-end sound personally..but that's just a prejudice.

My understanding of it was that Barclays set up "Bespoke Offers" in partnership with them, using Flubit's technology. Their business model was unsustainable though. They were offering up to £2 for each 'Beat My Price" quote, something like 15% discounts on price matching and then up to a further 20% in cashback through Quidco & Topcashback. Flubit themselves never went away but I doubt they did much business whilst Bespoke were burning through their own cash reserves. I actually used Flubit last week for a SDXC card, price and service were excellent.
So subjective the whole SQ issue. Looking at Head-Fi reviews you get people saying their super neutral, others saying the treble is a little artificially extended and others saying their response is V shape (my least favourite sound profile).

What do owners on HUKD think?
I bought them 2 days ago at this price. I believe it is probably a subtle v. I'm really happy with them. I also own sennheiser mm500 which I like and these sound better.

I think they kick the ass of any other headphones I've heard, nevermind at this price point.

I do not like V shape either, my previous go to headphones were the Grado SR-325is - the philips are far superior.

If you do not like them then you can send them back to Amazon for a full refund, their returns are great.
I've got these as well and they're great but I think I prefer my Sennheiser IE8's tbh.

They're definitely not neutral. They have a lot of bass, decent treble and very smooth mids. You can listen to them for a long time without getting tired. Good expansive sound stage as well.
Is the cable replaceable on these?

Come now, please be realistic. You need the Orpheus II to do something like that.

its ok, all the extra frequency response can be used to make dogs and osciloscopes happy. audiophiles can settle for grados and stax.
