Because it uses unique Douwe Egberts coffee pods (one per cup of coffee) that are specially designed for the Senseo machine you can have the perfect cup of coffee with the same great taste every time at the press of a button!

Douwe Egberts is the number one roast & ground coffee brand in the UK and they have worked in conjunction with Philips to produce the perfect blend of coffee & machine for the perfect taste.

More than 10 years in development and market research, the patented Senseo coffee-brewing system automatically uses the right amount of water and ensures that the water passes through the Senseo coffee pods quickly and evenly, maximizing the flavor from the coffee bean. The brewing process guarantees a perfect cup of fresh coffee within a minute every time. Also available in colors: blue, black, and white.

# One or two cups of sensational coffee at the touch of a button at any time of the day. Make one four-ounce cup of delicious coffee in approximately 30 seconds two four-ounce cups or one eight-ounce mug in approximately 60 seconds.

why the cold votes its over £50 at other retailers?

Voted hot for price, I bought this a few years back for £45.

Unfortunately I found the special coffee pouches took up a lot of space in the cupboard and ended up being quite expensive to buy. My coffee filter also leaked everywhere.

In my limited experience (having converted back to instant) I think that ground coffee in a Bodum coffee maker is cheaper and easier to use.

I use mine almost every day. Pods are much cheaper from Holland and come in a massive variety of options. The UK selection is pathetic. Great machine, makes a great cup of coffee . . . or tea (fruit or otherwise) using T-Pods
