I think you are missing something this is not a decoder just speakers dude!
You want a surround sound decoder you woulndt be paying 50 squid for speakers plus electronics for a decoder as well!

Hmm never actually thought of sticking a subwoofer under the sofa; that is not a bad idea at all - might give the GF too much excitement though!
Decisions , decisions!

Cracking price at £49 odd, however, this is a 70w set up in total, not 140, the bar had 2x 15w speakers + the 40w sub

Yes. The sound quality is decent enough and will be an upgrade on your sound plate. Thankfully, Philips have seen the error of their ways and added buttons to the speaker: my remote broke and that was that!

Got a subwoofer next to the sofa, was watching Interstellar last night & whenever there was turbulence the sofa was shaking like nobody's business. Intend to put it in the sofa at some point but it's a lot bigger than this one so it's a big trickier.
I am looking for a soundbar but really can't decide if this is worth it. Especially over the aforementioned Panasonic. It's for a 12m2 room with access to a 18m2 garden. It would be the main daily loudspeaker system. The Panny doesn't seem to have a line in and is refurbished (not to mention unavailable).

Yeah that post has got my modding motor going - most sofas have a big void underneath (i keep my rare 2000ad and tornado/starlord comic collection under mine lol) so am going to mount an old car bass turbo inside and mount it on the wooden brackets and add a subwoofer module - make sure its 8 ohms of course and see if i can make my sofa fly - might even do a youtube not seen any subwoofer sofas around!!!!

Can confirm. Bag did not enable me to get £5 voucher
I picked one up and it seems OK so far.

Only noticeable issue so far is that there's a delay between TV and soundbar using an 3.5mm lead, so I've had to mute the TV.

Not had any issues on aux out before.

Wouldn't that mean the sound from the soundbar doesn't match whats happening on tv though? That would drive me mad.

It's not quite enough to be noticeable with the TV sound off, but it sounds a bit echoey with both on.

Very similar to when you have two TVs playing the same thing in two rooms.

Anything that has a constant stream of "refurbished" models is a huge red flag for reliability
So guys check what version you can get. I got 1520B/05 with hdmi arc. You can ask Argos staff what they have it.
Anyone has this?
Worth getting or the same as the TV speakers?
Worth getting. I have quite nice speakers in my Hisense TV but still using soundbar difference is noticeable. For this money it's great.
I think I'm on the same as others. I'm not a total audiophile, but have owned a fair few headphones and speakers.

First thing I have to give kudos is the audio mids and highs are really good. The low end is good but the sub is a little too "punchy".

If you have a track with lots going on, and the volume is not too quiet, it's really good. Like £50 is a steal.

If you listen to a song with like one vocal and one less complicated bass rhythm, the bass hits a little too hard.

This is the test via Bluetooth. Will try an aux test tomorrow
Actually had a chance to test the aux line quickly:

So far the audio sounds slightly better than Bluetooth (as normal) and the punchy bass is much much improved and toned down to the right amount

Ok, so the only issue I see is Bluetooth audio is acceptable if you play it enough to fill the room. Bass is too punchy if you turn it down for night time. Will disturb neighbours.

And there is a hum when tracks are playing. Quiet if no tracks playing. Not noticeable unless you are a metre or two near it.

Honestly, I'm happy for £50. Enough to fill my apartment bedroom and a leap above the tinny TV speakers
Bought to go with my recent ambilight tv. Many thanks!
BTW OP - you can't add a carrier bag to get something over £50. I was in Argos yesterday buying something else and they made clear you can't do this. Bags don't count towards the price. They also went and checked and 100% confirmed this.
What is the difference between HTL1510B/12 and HTL1510B/05? Searching for this product online seems to only bring up results for HTL1510B/12? Also why is Argos still selling this system as 140W? If you look at the QandA, someone raised the wattage error with Argos and their staff stated they were going to get the webpage corrected but it's still showing as 140W - that was 11 days ago lol.
