A huge boost to your TV's sound
As What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision found, this Philips soundbar gives a huge boost to your TV's sound. The wide cabinet is equipped with no fewer than six drive units on each side, including four 'racetrack' woofers. Combined with the built-in 100 watt amplifier, this gives the HTL5140 a powerful yet balanced sound quality, bringing TV and movie sound to life.

Bass to make the room shake with a separate subwoofer
Although the soundbar offers a powerful and engaging sound, for genuine, cinema style bass you really need a separate subwoofer. The wireless subwoofer that comes with the HTL5140 packs a potent punch. Now you can feel the bass rather than just hearing it!

Spacious sound via Virtual Surround Sound
Virtual Surround Sound gives the impression of an enveloping sound similar to a 5.1 surround sound system. Any high quality stereo signal can be processed, so the surround sound effect will work with music, too.

Bluetooth streaming with NFC
This sound base is not just for your TV, it's for your smartphone and tablet, too. With NFC technology, pairing your device can be done with just a swipe of the device. From here you can stream your stored music or favourite streaming service, such as Spotify or Deezer straight from your smartphone or tablet.

HDMI with ARC and other great connectivity for system flexibility
With HDMI input and output you can plug in your Blu-ray player and carry the picture through to your TV. Thanks to the ARC (Audio Return Channel) you also only need a single HDMI cable between soundbar and TV to hear the sound from the TV's onboard receiver. There are also optical digital, USB and analogue 3.5mm inputs for other sources such as a DVD and MP3 player.

An award-winning soundbar that serves both your TV and music equally well - the Philips HTL5140 is a classic all-rounder.

Nice prices, £20 cheaper than Amazon has been recently.

Great sound quality but read reviews about the Bluetooth subwoofer connection cutting out occasionally.

Also the way the sound bar is put together (it arrives in 3 sections which you screw together) means that it droops a little at the ends when wall mounted.

If you get a good one and aren't wall mounting then this is great so heat added.
Does anyone know if this is made by Phillips or is actually made by the same company who make their tv's. Phillips sold their tv business in 2012.
Good price. £50 less than I paid ages ago. The sub does occasionally drop out but I have got mine a fair way away from the soundbar
My son has this in his bedroom & he loves it. Never had a problem with it. Great deal.
