Fantastic deal, have some heat 🔥

3 for 2 on hue products plus voucher at the minute

Shame you can't mix and match...

Umm. I’m tempted to take the plunge and finally kit my home out with Hue.
Guess I’ll need a starter kit with these to get me going.

If you can wait, you will save a lot of money during black Friday. I'd also highly recommend getting a load of the dimmer switches so you don't have to faff around getting your phone out everything you enter another room

Correct me if I’m wrong but these are approx 60w equivalent light output bulbs yeah? I know they change colour and are wireless etc but surely they are dim as hell?

Do you need the philips hub for this or can you just use the Logitech harmony elite hub?

Please be aware that these bulbs (original deal) so do not change colour or tone. They don't really add much but remote dimming and routines.

The Ambience bulbs is where the magic starts.

Does anybody know how to find the cheapest item at Argos? I need to spend 2p to qualify for the £10 voucher...

When will they do 100w equivalent smart bulbs...the Philips non smart 1500lm odd LED bulb is amazing, if only they had a smart version!

what wattage bulbs do you have in your house!? 60w is the higher end of standard I thought? with 40 also being standard?

As of last week I am a yeelight Convert - no bridge required and very impressed with them, at £8 a bulb when the codes come in, they still are a better deal than these. - and the yeelights change colour etc, unlike these particular bulbs.

I read that people have previously been able to add a carrier bag to take them over when a few pence short.

Ha. I’ve just been researching and realised I’d want a dimmer switch for each room as it dawned on me it would take me longer to whip my phone out when I needed the lights on or if I had visitors they’d not be able to control my lights.
Yes I was thinking hang on until Black Friday but not sure what kind of saving to expect.
Thanks for taking your time to reply.

Thats great, thanks for the tip, just need to get a bridge now

All this talk of needing the dimmer switch... you do all realise that you can still use your existing light switch to turn them on and off as you would any other bulb...

Do you think cheaper than this? 3x 2 ambience candles for £99 - £16.50 each. Wasn’t in the market last Black Friday, so don’t know the sort of discounts we can hopefully expect. Heat btw!

Then you would lose the dimming functionality unless you did use your phone after turning it on. Also if the switch is left in the off position it can't be controlled, either. You might as well use a regular bulb if you're going to use the normal light switch.

For anyone that does have a few dimmers I've recently purchased a 3D printed light switch cover that is a useful addition. It was recommended to me on here but I can't remember from who. I'm sure I'll buy more when needed. Link here.

I know it’s a safety thing but I struggle with this as if I want the light dimmed I can set a scene to a dimmer level but it takes a minute or two to change the bulb. I have the light sensor downstairs with the light strip. This comes on instantly to the desired colour and brigh

i have the Hue Lux bulbs, and the newer ones, I didn't even know they were different, and can't see any difference in them, nor do i care really, they just have slightly different names in the Hue app.

Don't expect Homekit (Siri, and dragging up from the bottom of your iPhone) to work very well, at least 50% of the time I have 'No response!' next to each bulb, and so have to unlock my phone, open the hue app, and do it from there, which works every time.

GOD DAMN IT. Me 10 Minutes Ago 'No More Spending this month'
Me Now 'Now no More Spending '

Heaty heat

Ordered, will go nicely with the other 4 (Screw) Hue bulbs i have scattered around the house as I needed the Bayonet type for the other lamps in the house. (Yes I know you can get converters)
Thanks OP

A heads up on the Black Friday (and other Amazon promotions) - usually limit the number that a customer can buy. You can probably get round that by creating multiple accounts etc., but just in case you do hold off for Amazon's possible deal in November.

Big room so needs a 100w equivalent (so well over 1000 lumens) otherwise it ends up looking like a crack den.

check your emails, argos just sent me a £10 off voucher with no minimum spend, I did delete it at first as thought spam then rechecked when I saw this post so got three bulbs for £20

Once you've had a 1600 lumen+ daylight bulb, it's really hard to go back. Especially when your room is north facing or has few windows. They're a proper head f***, they're ace.

Thanks!

Is this plug n play or requires a bridge on the router? Issue I have is only 2 Ethernet ports on my Sky Q router! 1 for Sonos the other is Hive? Hence none spare. Any suggestions?

You could buy a lamp?

Silly question time but what are the advantages of smart bulbs over smart switches. Most of my rooms have 10 or more bulbs but only 1 switch. Surely it would be better getting smart switches?

The switches do make things a lot easier, particularly for guests. I do all the fancy stuff with the colours on my phone and the basics on the switch.

We use the motion sensor for the stairs and have the lights switch off after 2.mins as we rarely spend time on the stairs. Also if you are carrying things/kids up the stairs you don't have to worry about trying to switch the lights on at the switch or on your phone.

Discounts last year were 50% off, I think that's the best you can hope for on black Friday.

Thanks for the info.
