Last week the b22 bayonet version as well as these E27 screw caps was also the same price. Better still last week hue bulbs were in the ‘buy two and get 15% off’ the order total
If anyone is looking for a more cost effective way of adding more switches to the hue system, either for a side lamp, main light or all the lights in a room at the same time, I found the small Ikea TRÅDFRI light switch/dimmer is working well on Philips hue though there is a precise way to add them in to the hue hub.

Ikea are selling their 1000 lm dim-able bulbs with the dimmer for £15 at the moment but if you just want the dimmer/on off switch they’re £8 each. The Ikea smart bulb kit are now compatible with Philips hue but if you have old stock the firmware on the bulbs and switches needs the update.

Might have to give these a go. I've read that the actual process of getting them to connect and stay connected can be a bit of a pain. Any experience with them?

I have very recent experience with them and yes it was a bit of a pain. Conflicting info on the net as to whether it is possible or not to add tradfri dimmer switches. But have fallen into a way of doing it which is consistent.
These are quite often on 3 for 2 deal, got recently at approx £23 per bulb

I found for myself that Philips kit of a dimmable lamp with a switch is an easier way. Normally £29, but quite often on 3 for 2 deal. Was £23 about a month ago.
Main benefit is that switch gets paired to hub, and not to individual lamps. I think this is more convenient and flexible. (or just motion sensors)

Another cheap option - Xiaomi switches/buttons, if you have Smartthings.
I’ve recently bought a Hue starter kit and picked up a few of the Ikea tradfri bulbs. I found them annoying to set up and the GU10s i got would sometimes say unreachable. This along with them not showing up in HomeKit despite them being paired with the Hue bridge means they’re a bit of a waste of time for me. Would rather pay extra for the seamless operation of the hue bulbs. Plus the tradfri don’t fade off as nicely. They have a higher minimum brightness than the hue bulbs.

Oh man, must have missed it. I've just bought 12 bulbs (6 x B22, 6 x E14). Would have saved a fair Bit at that price!
