Seems like a good deal. They sell the twin pack of bulbs for this price alone so technically getting a hub and Google home mini for free. The saving of £100 was when the Google home mini was retailing at £50

It's worth adding to the title that these are colour bulbs. This is a great deal based on that fact, otherwise its so-so.

Agreed. It was the first thing I went to check.

Yeah this kit will have you up and running
Isn't this a repeat of the Black Friday deal?
I'm tempted just for the bulbs. Still a good deal with having to sell the google home mini and the hub?
I wish there were some deals on the E14 colour bulb sets. Cant find them for less than 38 each except ebay

If space permits, could you use an E27/E14 adaptor?

The two colour bulbs retail at £85/pair. I'm tempted to buy two sets of these myself and make some money back selling the second hub. I'm buying at least one set on my way home tonite. The home mini's will be handy for voice control of the lights rather than relying on the phone app. I had the free Google home mini two weeks ago on the spotify offer. Don't know if that's still running tho...

Unfortunately the shades are small and with an adaptor the bulb is too high up so it looks weird
Do the Bridges typically sell on for ~£20?

Some people trying to sell them for £40 but realistically you should get £30 delivered

Sweet, thanks!

Really just wanted some bulbs as I already have the base setup, so I ordered two of the kits, will look to sell both Bridges and one extra Home Mini, making it a decent upgrade.

Thanks for sharing this one

Quite a good deal then considering can get £25-£30 for the hub and £20 for the mini. I already have three google mini's and the home hub so dont need another. Cheers
I went for this back on Black Friday. Can't argue with the price.

As for B22 to E27 conversions, if you know a competent electrician you can change the actual B22 socket to an E27. You can buy E27 sockets off a certain auction site pretty cheaply and then have them installed. Much cheaper than buying new replacement lighting to accommodate the E27 bulbs.

I too am looking into starting the whole smart light game. Another good addition to start up is the white ambience e27 bulb (£24.99) plus a dimmer switch (£17.99) both for a combined price of £29.99 in argos. argos.co.uk/pro…367

Plus the pack of 8 gu10 white only bulbs £80 again in argos

The B22's are available too, that's what I ordered.

You can also get 2 E27 to B22 converters £1 in IKEA.
I went for the E27s as they seem to be on sale more often, but the B22 pack will work of course. Saves the hassle of changing the sockets!

You can get converters but when I did some research I was not too impressed with build quality and if they were correctly certified (CE marking).

There were some reports of adapters melting or smoking, which was enough of a red flag for me to do it correctly at source rather than to patch it. However your milage may vary!

The only converters I would trust are the ikea ones, I think its 2 for £2 or something. They've worked fine for me.

If I went for the converter route I'd go with IKEA as well. For me though it just took a few mins to change the sockets from B22 to E27. Would definitely recommend using a converter if you can't change the socket type by any other means.

If you get yourself a small setup you should definitely download the IFTTT app. You get so many more uses out of your bulbs using it.

IFTTT is very useful. Just a shame Hue can't be used as a trigger. Really want to be able to operate the free wifi plug Hive gave me from a Hue dimmer switch.
What extra things can be done with the IFTTT app? I've seen this mentioned alot when looking at the sonoff switches as an alternative to having to buy 6 GU10 bulbs

You can set it up so the lights flash blue if it's going to rain in your area. It can flash if you're tagged on Facebook on anything. Can set it so your lights come on at sunset and switch off at 12am etc. Turn off your lights when you leave home. Make it so your lights will start flashing if you have a Nest smoke alarm or the like. Flash your lights when your Alexa or Google home timer hits 0.

You can also download other Hue apps that have dynamic scenes like the flickering of a candle, flash like it's a thunderstorm, fireworks going off, and more importantly disco time.

That's just a few examples up above but you can take a look through the app even without the lights to see what they can do.

Thanks for this, I dont have any colour bulbs yet but this might have convinced me to snap this deal up and swap out the white bulbs with colour bulbs in the main rooms.

Any idea if the yeelights work with IFTTT app alongside Hue

No problem mate. The colour bulbs are well worth it for the difference, don't think I could ever stick to the white ones. Plus it'll be all the more worth it seeing as it's for main rooms. You could also just sell on the Google home mini too to make the deal even more worth it.

I know they have their own section on the IFTTT website\app so don't see why not. Here's a link to that section too.
