That's what I'm using currently but I'm only ordering as I want to be able to change the colours using Alexa

you can use a tp link plug with Alexa

Is this actually a 'deal' Currys are running with the strip light or the rrp for this bundle? Bearing in mind the bulbs and hub are technically discounted in that bundle already compared to what they'd cost separately? Anyone seen this in store?

I wish I'd gone for the Hue kit rather than the Hive bulbs as they default to red when you turn them on with Alexa and there seems no way to change it. I don't mind the 'ambience' but we keep getting strange men knocking on and the Mrs is getting fed up.

Better off ordering via Argos, who at the moment who are doing a starter kit and light strip for £175 and then take advantage of their card - buy now pay in 6 months .. . .that's what I've done

This deal is for a colour changing light system that can be ALL be controlled via an app,Apple home kit/Siri,Amazon Alexa.

What you've suggested isn't really the same as yes you can turn the strip lights on and off but then you've got to use a remote control to change the colours/dim,so no point in using a TP-link if you still got to use a remote control.

Plus tp links don't work with motion sensors

minus 194 tells it's own story

Yes, it tells the story that people don't know what they are rating. Your suggestion of using a tp-link and switch is a good example, it gives you one lightstrip that you can turn on and off for £30. This deal is for 4 lights, so you'd need your set up x4 (£120). Even then you have no control of brightness, or colour, can't set any advanced scenes, and there is no way you could use that set up for ceiling lights.
If you think it's expensive to buy hue lights, fair enough, but that doesn't make this a bad deal.
