When dealing with LED bulbs the wattage isn't as relevant as it was when dealing with incandescent bulbs.

The more relevant rating for LED bulbs is the lumen. The older Philips bulbs are 9W and 806 lumens, whereas the newer Bluetooth ones are 8.5W and also 806 lumens.

60W incandescent bulbs also produced 800 lumens.

Good price but still can't use as a main light source it's alright as a reading light or tv time
I find them very bright I have to have it dimmed to 80 percent to be used as a hallway light
Great price.
hot hot hot.
Hot! Spent all day yesterday trying to find somewhere that sold these at a decent price!

Tempted but complaints about these not being very bright have put me off...

"Nice bulb for accent lighting. Not bright enough for task or general lighting.
This bulb isn't ideal as a main light source. Needs to be brighter. Comparing to other LED bulbs of equivalent wattage, the lumens in this bulb are lower."

Thank you for the explanation, exactly what I wanted to read! Purchased!
These are misleading? They will only work with an Alexa 2nd plus
Do these bulbs still require the Hue Bridge to work with Alexa?

No, not necessary. But for full functionality, yes.
Ah OK, I'll look out for a cheap Hue Bridge
Does anyone know how much energy these consume when not on?
The Edisons and GU10s regular white at £29.99 on Amazon - amazon.co.uk/Phi…h=1
Someone posted this earlier but the mods removed as a duplicate , I can't find it elsewhere on the site.

So would I be able to use Alexa via an echo dot to turn them on and off without the bridge bit?

From the blurb...
Control lights with your voice - works with alexa for hands-free voice control. Easily connect your Philips hue bluetooth smart lighting directly with Amazon echo dot (3rd gen), echo plus and echo show (2nd gen)
The 3 pack bundle for B22 are £39, £13 a bulb, yet the 2 pack is £25, £12.50 a bulb, bit of a crappy bundle deal.
tempted as now hub not required, for voice activation anyway.
Im looking for a smart bulb that i can turn on/off and dim via voice control (and possibly change colour)
I only have an Amazon echo dot (3rd gen)

If you go on Amazon there are loads of smart bulbs, they say they can be controled via an app or Alexa but dont say how much fntionality you get via Alexa.

Whats the best bulbs to get for the money? maybe colour too

The 2 pack is showing as £39 for me. Do you have a link?
Shame all our main lighting are from GU10 bulbs ( 28 on ground floor alone). Switching from 50W halogens to 5W LED has saved us a small fortune though...

From what I can tell on the Amazon website you still need a bridge with these unless you use an echo show or echo plus.
Like you I’m after a colour changing bulbs for the kids that they can control using their echo dots but I can’t seem to find one that doesn’t need a bridge too
