Not when you compare them with simple compact fluorescent or LED bulbs - both of which cost a tiny fraction of the price.

I think you'll find this is a discussion forum - and that you can't dictate what's discussed, or how!

Same price for the bayonet and spots too.
Showing as £100.68 for me? :/
Got to love be these money saving LED bulbs at just £26.67 each, I remember those inefficient incandescent ones.

Remember those incandescent bulbs that could be controlled from your phone and had different colours. No me neither. Simple LED bulbs can be had for a few quid and will last longer and use less energy than old bulbs, not sure what point you were trying to make here but it wasn't a good one.
Why oh why in Philips Hue deals do you always usually get the one comment that goes something like this "£40 for a light bulb? No thanks!". Only just wasting their time.

If you look up what they can actually do using an app called IFTTT you would see how they're quite expensive, but lately have been some great prices.

What can IFTTT get it to do? Start cooking my dinner? Sort out my entire media library and update all the metadata by scraping thetvdb/imdb?

No it can turn the bulb on/off or change it's hue. That's 1st prize of the International Technology Awards right there.

It's up to people what they want to do with their own money. It's a website for deals, and should only be about the saving of money. Don't know why people compare it to normal light bulbs when stating their usual comments of dislike for them, when it's not even comparable. Know what I mean? A saving is a saving, and I'm sure they're more worth it than the Creed and Tom Ford fragrance deals etc.

Look in to the app and you'll see what they can do, they are pretty nifty when you have them all set up believe it or not. Just as an example, say someone was deaf and the postman comes to your door with a parcel, you can set it up if you have the Philips motion sensor or a Ring doorbell that your lights start flashing to know someone is at your door etc.

It's a bulb. The novelty factor will soon wear off going "Alexa, stop sending all my private conversations to Amazon and make the light slightly more green".

I think we get you don't like them mate.

You need to admit it's a pretty good example to help certain people though. Home automation is also a hobby to some folk too.
Sorry, but I'm with the others here.

I just see it as nearly 80 quid for 3 bulbs that can change colour.

No thanks.

Just imagine, if you can, that there is someone out there who wants three Philips Hue colour bulbs and has made the decision to buy them. Is this a good deal for them?

(Hint: they normally cost £50 each)

I take your point, but what has that got to do with my comment ! We are talking about two different things, I completely agree with your comment though!

Go for it, if this is your thing and you consider it value for money..
