Ahh thought they were white whites too. Why was confused what I missed lol
These are also 50 lumens brighter (main reason I favour these over ambience as the main functioning lights jn a kitchen). Shame they can’t make ambience (or colour) bulbs brighter.
Ooh tempted now. No hub required so now to decide to buy or not. The gu10s would go great with some yeelights I have. Shame its a pack of 3, could have done with 4. Are the versions for sale which have the 2 clips on the side as opposed to screwing the bulbs in? Thanks

Do you mean the Bayonet fitting? If so, then no. This is the GU10 spot and the E27 (large)/E14 (small) Edison screw fixtures.

Bayonet! That's the one. Right, might just have to buy the gu10s. Especially now that you don't need the hub and it can work with my Google home.

Might buy the hub later on down the line for added functionality.
Damn you Hue!! More money spent. (9 bulbs) to add to my 24 I currently have in the house and I'm still only just halfway through. Why did everybody go spotlight crazy a decade ago?!?!
I have ordered the echo dot 3rd Gen but was wondering if I order these bulbs can Alexa control my lights or will I to purchase additional items for that to work ?

You’ll need the hub to get Alexa to control the lights.

not with these bluetooth versions. you'll get basic functionality without the hub. for full functionality you'll need the hub, but basic switching on and off can be done without the hub.

So these connect to an Amazon Echo to allow Alexa control? Otherwise Matholwch’ comment is probably true. Yes you can turn them on and off with a phone but for Alexa integration surely some form of hub (or direct connectivity to an Echo) is required or the requisite communication between the bulb and Amazon’s API does not exist.

Edit: I stand corrected, if this article is to be believed both Alexa and Google Home work with the Bluetooth versions without a hub. Nice. I have a tonne of Hue kit in the house but had no idea they had added Bluetooth to it

So is the Philiips Hue Bluetooth app seperate/distinct from the normal Hue app?

I already have a Hue Hub and some ambience bulbs, I'm just wondering if these can be used independently AND/OR with the hub? I.e. I'm a bit confused about the inter-operability with normal hue hub?
Must admit I thought Bluetooth was limited to direct interaction to a single device. I guess the question then is the Bluetooth range from your Alexa device.

The Bluetooth bulbs can be controlled With regards to dimming and on/off from Alexa, without a bridge. I had two working perfectly fine without a bridge up until just before Xmas. I then upgraded to a full bridge. As far as I could tell the Bluetooth app is just a variant of the full app.

The article I linked to above suggests the Bluetooth option is very limited versus a hub connected setup, especially as you need to be in Bluetooth range between bulb and phone to be able to control them.

Any ideas of the actual lumens for these ones? Can't find it anywhere in the description

I thought the ambiance bulbs where brighter at 350 lumens as apposed to the white only being 300 lumens?
Why are the E14 ambient bulbs never on offer I wonder.

The effect in a 5 bulb lamp with 3 colour bulbs and 2 ambient white is excellent and theoretically cheaper than using 5 colour bulbs. But the ambient white ones are never on offer.

All the newer gu10s are brighter than their predecessors, ambience are max 350 lumens at a colder colour 4000k. These white ones are 2700k and 400 lumens.

White gu10: www2.meethue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white-2-pack-gu10/8718699629311

White ambience: www2.meethue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white-ambience-1-pack-gu10/8718699628673

Appreciate that one is a two pack but bulb spec is the important part.

Likewise, these don't dim as low as the colour bulbs so are less useful when you need the dim range, e.g night-lights

Very much ‘horses for courses’ then, did wonder if I’d want the relax option from an ambience bulb, but opted for having a better lit kitchen. As always it depends on your needs.
