I bought 8 led's from Wilko last week as they were reduced to £6 each. They are all 100w and this is a good deal as well, everybody moans about their electric bill but not many people seem to have the sense to have these light bulbs.

there some on clearance in Bridgend for £0.87 last week

bloody hell amazing price... will nip down to my local.. was looking to replace all the bulbs in my house... Verbatim bulbs are £15+ each at Maplin

great find. thanks

Do these last 20 years ?

Ive bought some last year when they were selling LED bulbs for £0.25 @ Tesco so still got loads. The only thing that has changed since last year is the box :-P

A lot of LED light bulbs do not last as long as you'd think ...

Quite a con !

I would like to see this 1100W LED bulb

Or even the 100W one

They never seem to have any bayonet cap ones, especially when reduced. All screw fitting.

Yes beware, a lot of these bulbs fail way way before their advertised life.

We have had several fail within 12 months /less than 1,000 hours...therefore always keep your receipt!

Fwiw...we tried to contact Syvania about a failed bulb that was expensive (over £10) but just over 12 months old....they never replied....

B and Q sell personalised ones with your name printed on them.

As long as your name is either Philips, Osram, GE and MegaMan

When I first moved in here the downstairs lights alone took 1.1Kw! It was all 50w halogens in multi light fittings, replaced with LEDs where possible and CFLs where not, got it down to under 200w. I've lost 2 out of 8 SMD bulbs in the kitchen over 16 months, much earlier than their stated lifespan. They've probably saved me over 1000 units* in that time though between them, so over £150 saved for using some bulbs off ebay that cost about £20 for the lot.

* 8 halogen lights at 50w each, replaced with SMD bulbs at 5w each. 360w saved per hour, 6 hours a day over 16 months. Just a wild guess but the kitchen is usually lit all night when we're back.

Been this price for a while, I bought some ~5-6 weeks ago from a previous posting on here. Good deal

These are all screw in top valley, just been and my fittings are all bayonet

lots available though

Candle ones are 2.50
Bigger bulbs 3.00

if i had screw fittings would be all over this

Oh and btw they are near the birthday cards and stationary .. not were all bulbs are

Get some lamps from Ikea and you'll have lamps with screw fit fittings They have some at quite reasonable prices.

Do they heck. The ones in my living room table lamps seem to die after about six months evening use.

Unfair to shun led light bulbs based on Ikea and a unknown brand, Ikea well known for being poor quality and often overpriced when you look into what they sell, remember Ikea kept selling light bulbs with mercury long after everyone else as they could do them cheaper... They also failed far quicker than other energy saving bulbs...

Personally I'm sold on good LED's bought some over 2 years ago for my living room, dimmable and brighter than the traditional bulbs they replaced, although I did buy some cheap ones first that got very hot and burnt out after a few months, (but then I got them on ebay, what ya expect!)

Heat from me! Cheers

Philips branded ones will be OK.

LED are old hat now. SMD's are the way forward with lower power required and a higher lumenosity (if I could spell it).

SMD stands for surface mount device and is just a way of describing the way the LEDs are soldered to the circuit board.

May be maestegtown means that the higher density of SMD LEDs allows for higher light outputs?

This article is about ikea lamps. I fitted modo lamps (made by megaman) in my house around 2 years ago, and haven't had any fail. I also haven't noticed any drop in light levels. 10 of them are in my kitchen, so are on quite a lot. In this case, i genuinely believe that you get what you pay for.

I bought eight if these from Tesco... Two of the eight have failed within a week (!) and I'm taking them back.

None in Tesco Belfast,Maybe save someone a journey.

Can these be used with a dimmer

Been to 3 tesco stores, this definitely a local deal. Did a price check at all of them, it's a deal just a shame not national.

nigelbry1978

Can these be used with a dimmer

probably not
unless it says on them,
dimmable leds usually cost more

and may require a different dimmer switch (not sure on that though)

Full price Risca extra £10 and £15. Local deal only, but good if you can find it.
