Philips Lumea
How Does Philips Lumea Prevent Hair Growth?

Gentle pulses of light are applied directly to the hair. The melanin in the hair and hair root absorbs the light pulses. This process results in the follicle going into a resting phase. The hair sheds naturally and regrowth is inhibited.

A simple and gentle treatment once every two to four weeks will prevent hair roots from becoming active again and prevent hair from growing back.
Why Do you Need the Philips Lumea Facial Attachment?

Light from an IPL flash is white; white light is made up of all colours. Only orange, red and infrared light penetrate the hair follicle deep enough for effective hair reduction. Lumea’s red integrated UV filters protect your skin from UV light.

Certain Lumea models contain additional filters for body and face treatments. The facial attachment's UV filter provides extra protection and prevents skin damage to the face. The facial attachment should only be used to treat unwanted hair on cheeks, upper lip and chin, this attachment has been designed to treat the facial hair safely and effectively.
Is Lumea Right for Me?

Philips Lumea works effectively on (naturally) dark-blonde, brown and black hair. It is not suitable for (naturally) red, grey and light blonde hair or for very dark skin types (skin type VI). Please consult the comparison table to determine which light intensities are most suitable for your skin and body hair colour and to check if this method is suitable for you at all (if it is not, this is indicated with an x).

Please note: Unfortunately, Philips Lumea is not designed for everyone. If any of the following is true for you, then this appliance is not suitable for you to use.

- If your natural hair colour in the treatment areas is light blonde, white, grey or red.

- If you are of skin type VI (you rarely or never get sunburnt and you tan very darkly). In this case you run a high risk of developing skin reactions such as strong redness, burns or discolouration when you use Philips Lumea.

- Philips Lumea Precision has been optimised for use by women but recent research showed that it can be used by men on most areas of the body, except the beard and scrotum.

- There are medications and health conditions that may lead to adverse reactions when you use Philips Lumea.

Safe
Lumea is equipped with an integrated UV filter to protect your skin from UV light. It also has a safety ring system to prevent unintentional flashing.

Facial Attachment
The facial attachment is equipped with an extra integrated light filter to ensure a safe and convenient application on the upper lip, chin and sideburns.

Fast Results
Lumea SC1997 has a wide treatment area with its body attachment that has a 4 cm window. This enables fast treatment on large areas like legs, with treatment on one lower leg now taking just 8 minutes. Main application mode enables sliding motion for a more convenient and continuous application.

Five Steps to Everlasting Smoothness
For best results, please shave prior to using Lumea. However, if you prefer, you may continue to wax areas, such as the face, before using Lumea, rather than shaving. Please be aware that although Lumea will still work, your treatment may take longer for the full treatment to be effective
Consult the skin and hair type matrix and select the light intensity suitable for your skin tone and body hair colour
Apply gentle pulses of light to the hair. The light produces heat in the hair, which is transferred to the hair follicle. This stimulates the hair follicle to go into a resting phase
As a consequence, the hair sheds naturally and hair regrowth is inhibited
To prevent hairs from growing back, the treatment must be repeated every two weeks (or every month for legs) which will progressively reduce hair regrowth to a minimum

Cheers ordered. Main difference between these and the others (more expensive ones) is that this is corded not cordless. I looked into the cordless ones a while back and they are rated more poorly, bad battery life and can't operate whilst charging. If you don't charge up regularly then it can ultimately break and no warranty will be offered as you *should* charge it up frequently so this one, the corded one is a good deal.
I have corded and cordless. I prefer corded as cordless runs out of battery quicker.x

Not to be a drama queen but due to underlying health problems etc, changed my life. I've paid thousands for laser treatments I've used nono, epilaters, tweezers every day of my life up til 2015. I wish I had discovered these sooner. I would deffo even pay 500 quid. BUT MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE GREY/BLONDE/RED HAIR. It WILL NOT work. Pale skin and dark hair is best combo for amazing results. And BE PATIENT. It does work. I highly recommend it, I have the 1991 version, I cant really explain how much it's changed everything lol yes yes I'm being a bit dramatic to some I guess but yeah!
Well that was a lot of typing xD

Thanks R1992 for responding. I've pondered over these everytime I've seen them on offer but finally gone for it as with cashback it's sub £160 so worth a shot. I hate epilating! If in the long term it saves on waxing and that then brilliant.
oh dear the face and body model is out of stock

No probz, it worth it I promise you. Like I said, its worth 500quid to me. Well, it's worth a lot more personally but anyway, lol it won't dissapoint. Yeah I used to epilate under arms, now there's around 8/10 max hairs under my arms. A bit too much info but I'm just saying, you won't regret it.
Ps I use the body one on my face. Works for me and although they say don't use on face (unless face and body model which Imo may be weaker or something) I have been using it on my face and no problems OH AND ALSO BUY YOURSELVES SPF50 FOR FACE THAT IS YOUR EVERYDAY ROUTINE WHEREVER YOU ZAP. Pigmentation otherwise. Use religiously. And anti aging too so win win x

Are you using Chrome? Had this problem and had to change to Firefox and it was fine then. I did subsequently get two order confirmations though so had to email and ask they cancelled one!

Thanks ellenw, didn't realise those codes still worked!

Think I used those same codes before Xmas when I ordered the EasyClean HX6511 from Philips' site.

Well because there was an error with the first order I ordered again but I actually paid for two and two have been dispatched!! I will send it back as it is free returns unless anyone on here wants to buy it of me. Same price I paid for it and postage at your cost but will only send tracked/insured.....

Well my Lumea was 'delivered'. Signed for by someone with a different surname at my street address number 108 which is strange as there is only 10 houses on my street!!! Don't recognise the name who signed l. Philips investigating it but won't send another or refund until they have investigated so opened a PayPal dispute so as I ordered two I have over £300 out of pocket and nothing received grrrrrr...

Hope you get it sorted. I would think of knocking on a few doors but it depends what your neighbours are like.

Before I "officially" moved in I had a parcel with the wrong flat number (the sender's fault) but my name on it, that the neighbour above me kept for themselves!
