I bought one of these about 6 weeks ago and it's the best shaver I've ever used (had a Braun foil shaver before for about 6 years but really wished I switched earlier).

Being able to shave in the shower is a major bonus.

Keep an eye for Tesco doing the refills for cheap too.

I use an older version. Good shaver, good price.

Just out of interest, when shaving in the shower, how on earth can you accurately shave around say your sideboards?...or even know where youve shaved?

They're the only bits I don't do, otherwise you could end up with uneven ones. I have a normal razor that I use for them but I shave as far up to them as I'm happy and then just level off with one swipe of the razor on each side when you get out. The wife is pleased that I don't leave any stubble in the sink now ever! :-D

It's quite easy to tell where you've shaved though using your hand!

Or get a little mirror in there?

Seriously, I had my doubts but it really is great.

Good price for the shaver but they sting you on the refills.

I've tried a handful of rotary shavers over the years and I've never come across one that could hold a candle to a foil shaver. Are high-end rotary shavers now comparable to foil shavers?

I have been considering going back to an electric shaver. But my only problem is that when i had one about 5 years ago (a Philishave) - it just never used to shave close enough, always had that 11 oclock shadow, even when id just shaved!!

With all due respect can I ask the age... ish, of those who say these are good?

I've had a few electric shavers and never found one I could honestly say I was pleased with. And I'm not that old!?!

Thanks.

The only electric shaver that i've got on with was my old Remington Micro Screen in the 80's. Bit of a trade off with terrible shaver burn if you weren't careful though.

I'm guessing they've improved now though. The ]Philips Arcitec range is supposed to be very good and Philip's premium range.

hang a mirror in your shower - but rub a little shaving gel on it first then rinse off - it stops the mirror getting steamed up. Or you can use that stuff they use for cars - no more mist - I think its called - stops your windows steaming up when you are in the back seat having nookie :w00t:

This is a brillaint shaver and an AWESOME price - I got mine December for £79 - its really a shower/bath shaver - if you just stand in the bathroom like normal the shaven hairs go everywhere. I dont bother with the nivea stuff anymore, I just lather up with a good shaving gel and shave. Gives a closer shave than a foil shaver.
Price check: Boots £68.49 - Tesco £67.53 - Currys £69.99 - Littlewoodsdirect £69.00 -

You use wet shaving gel with an electric shave??!!

This is the cut down version without the sideburn trimmer unfortunately :-(
That's precisely WHY I need a new razor, the trimmer on my Philishave is bust!

On the plus side, while it is rather slow charging, at least it is Li-ion batteries.

superb shaver i have the 8040 model!

I started using min in my early 30's and whilst it is not as good as a wet razor it is still good and does not cause razor burn that normal electrics did to me.

Not sure if you asked because a) electric shaver in water? - its safe, the shaver is water proof and its a battery, Im not plugged into the national grid - or b) shaving gel with an electric razor - try it dude, its so smooth, no friction, no shave burn, and I find it gives me a much closer shave because the gel softens the hairs - and your skin feels really soft and conditioned after.
While in the shower the hot water softens your growth. Lather up with Gillette fusion gel ( or any other - one dude who rated in on Amazon said using tesco 98pence shaving gel was good ) wet the Philips razor, shave, shower, rinse the razor under the shower and you are good to go.
If you don't much like shaving - standing under the showers hot water jets giving you a back massage while you shave makes it a blissful experience.

Alternatively, use King of Shaves oil, that works a treat also, and not quite as messy.

Bought an older version of this a few months ago and it is superb,if you buy the refills they are very expensive (about £7 i think),but they are £3.24 at tesco direct (i bought 8 to stock up)

good idea - oil will keep the blades sharper for longer too

King of shaves alpha oil with a decent electric in the shower works great!

I usually blast my face with water and rub the hairs about in the shaving areas.. then apply the oil.
wait 30 secs, then shave.

Alternatively.. use johnsons babyoil.. its pracitcally the same.. cheaper, and you get far more of it

As for side burns.. I do those in the shower too.. just hold your finger to where you wanna shave up to.. its not rocket science!

Great offer this one.. HnR added

I had a Braun for a while but the side trimmer broke, took it back and got a refund as they were no longer in stock. Saw one of these for a decent price, now it chews my face on a daily basis. Can't wait till it breaks so I can go back to Braun.

A good shaver for everyday use (I own one) but when I want an extra close shave I use a Mach 3.

i use one of these:
its not as close as a blade
its not as fast as a blade
its not as harsh on the skin as a blade
you still need a blade as these miss hairs in 'tricky' bits like sides of windpipe etc.

i tend to use mine out of the shower now as that causes even less burn, the balm can be substituted if you run out with a decent shave gel though id dilute it a little with water to thin it out.
cant see the oil being good as its thick but its reported as being so.. may have to try.
you can use your own balm/moisturiser by prising the top of the refill off but i didn't have good results as used a crap moisturiser (gilette) and it was too thick (clogs the dispenser)

I've have the 8060 version for over a year. Best electric razor I've ever used, but I'd still like to pass on a few tips from my experience.

Don't buy the expensive Nivea stuff... Use a good quality shaving GEL directly on the pre washed face instead (shaving oil gums the heads up, and make it harder to rinse clean) I personally use NG Co (Natural Grooming Company) Moisturising Shave Cream. It contains Cocoa butter and Brazil nut oil. It's available from ASDA and is only £1.94. Smells great, works well with this razor and is dirt cheap... Quality stuff!

It shaves really well and close, but remember it will never be as good as a wet razor shave. Let it shave as close as it will go but don't persevere too much on difficult areas (eg adams apple) otherwise you will end up blotchy. It should give an excellent shave though for the days work ahead, until you get home. If you are going out in the evening, shave gently again.

Have a styptic pencil handy... You can still get little nicks with this razor, believe it or not!

:giggle: Just bought one of these for my 16 year old son - got it from Superdrug for £19.98 !!!! They had lots of other types on sale too. Great product x

What do you mean no one's checked availability. If you look this deal is being sold by Amazon.co.uk and if they show stock they've got it.
